I have heard that UK dealers are offering a few of their potential customers the chance to drive the 12C both on track and on the road in about three weeks time. Location to be revealing, but somewhere near MTC!

Based in the UK and from the horses mouth, so to speak.
Will have more info later in week, although not sure if there will be an embargo on exact details being released.

The timing of car intros probably has a lot to do with the strategy. As soon as Ferrari introduces something new, McLaren is on top of it with something faster in less than 12 months and then they stay there until Ferrari releases something else years later. The McLaren halo lasts longer in the press than Ferrari's.

Ferrari's 458 Spyder is due next year. McLaren's is released the year after
Ferrari's 458 "Scud" is due in 2013. McLaren's released shortly thereafter
Ferrari's Enzo replacement due in 1-2 yrs. McLaren's released shortly thereafter
    458 GT.......12C GT3.......

The pattern is obvious. Ferrari's time in the sun with their next greatest car is going to be kept short.

Actually you can expect to see McLaren's new entry into the Enzo/CGT space for the first time this July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed if rumors I've heard prove to be correct.

Its going to be at Dunsfold(topgear) ,early on in april, similar format to portamoi, but for customers,a while on the road then sometime on the track,im lead to believe that it wont be the full topgear circuit as this might cause some people to try for a lap time!!!!

Has anyone heard of the MOE McLaren Owners Experience where 12C's can have custom aspects added that are not standard options? I e-mailed Peter Freiberger last week and got an e-mail reply mentioning the MOE program for 12 C buyers. He said that he'd send the program info.

I was going to see if and how much it would cost to add some of the exterior styling GT3 elements to my fire black 12C. Those who have been complaining about customer service, a response from the US Sales Director in a couple of days to a single potential buyer is very impressive and in my opinion speaks volumes for the company's attitude towards us....their customers.

I spoke with Peter at the Beverly Hills 12C event and he seemed genuinely committed to giving customers great customer service....if the MOE program can help me customize my 12C, I for one will be very happy indeed.

Please keep us advised. I've requested a few interior alterations to add some spice to the cabin. If they are able to deliver the car with some exterior styling elements of the GT3, then that would seal the deal for me. I'd even give up my early spot for one next year to accomodate it!

RE: MOE - there is a spot in the ordering documentation for off menu special requests. Great to see they are formalizing this into an official program. Clearly there are a lot of people asking for it.

    Interesting.

Still, I have a hard time believing that there will be any exterior mods that can affect the aero index of the car. Different colour trim, paint, decals, sure. But in order for them to include any bodywork options would mean that those parts have already been modelled with CFD and aero-tested, which I doubt is the case. I'd love to be proved wrong, since more choice is always better, but I really can't see the availability of something that affects the level of downforce, for example, since this has been calculated with specific performance targets in mind.

This program will be too early for exterior mods,if ever they are avalible,Its more likely to be small changes of personal preferance. ie when i specced the car i didnt want front and rear sensors, just rear, they said its possible but probably would cost more!,Also because i am using it as a dd i wanted heated seats, but not the weight of all electic, again possible, but it would be bespoke ,so another possible high expense, thats the reason i went for alcantara instead or you could just get carried away

Still quite interesting. I wonder if they can do orange alcantara, with black leather (or vice versa). Was disappointed to see that by choosing alcantara, I lost some of the colour options available with dual leather.

no ,thats one of the pre-production cars (pp),first customer cars not out till may/june,that is apart from the vip and sponsers cars, first they have to supply all the dealerships with a show car and a demonstrator before you will see any on the road

That's what they are building at the factory at the moment, all of the demonstrators. Think the dealer said that there will be two per franchise.

Yeah something like that, with Red calipers too, I think!

Hamilton configured his in Volcano Red. Thought he would have gone with orange, to match the F1 GTR that Ron has promised him if he wins 3 WDC titles. Unless he's given up on that idea!!

Plus we know Jay Leno is getting an early car, maybe in denim to match his daily attire! :)
