Has anyone use the ElmScan 5 from Scantool with their ODB2 cars? It is supposed to work with any ODB2 complaint car (including my '04 360) but I am getting an "Invalid Hardware" error. Their support is limited...THX

I am using a "generic" ELM scan tool purchased off Ebay, and using ScanTools "freeware"...there were some issues with getting the proper drivers set up on my laptop initially, but all working well once that was overcome. Been using it for a few years now.

360's had a problem with the OBD. Campaign 148 addressed a missing ground pin the OBD connector. Without that pin most readers will not function. That may be your problem.

Do a quick search for the campaign and you will find the specifics have been posted. If you can't find them, drop me a PM and I will post it here.

Thanks, found the campaign. Strange thing is that my other super cheap reader can pull the codes so I presume the car has the pin, will check nonetheless.

I got a cheap ELM too. I'm not smart enough to figure out how to get the laptop to synch with my ELM. So I gave up. Some say the cheap elm's have issues yada yada but I was not going to buy 5 of them to get one that works. I would love to be able to get that data.

I'm not very computer savy either, but messing around with the drivers is what got it solved for me. I bought a new laptop last summer and had to start all over again, and had the same drivers issue, but some "google" searches and such, and I got it worked out again. For the $24 I spent three years or so ago, that ELM 327 scanner has paid back over and over again, not only for my F355, but my BMW and a few friends cars too! ;)
