Does anyone have any news on 599 successor ? Latest I found : - 2012 release (Geneva/Paris) - 670hp V12 + 100hp KERS for 20s - 7-speed DCT - similar weight to 599 GTB - 400 000+ USD MSRP I would prefer 700+hp engine without kers and some weight reduction.
This is the first I've heard of these particulars except the rumoured release date/place. If true, a 770 hp car inclusive of a kers system, with 7 speed DCT and the weight of a 599 GTB--and at $400k base, would be quite a package. Anyone thoughts or comments--on the addition of kers, the package itself, or any info on the "styling" of the new model?
That's about it but base MSRP will be well under $400k, about $365K. Might be my elusive keeper. KERS well that's something and how do Ferrari get these Graziano DCT's to cope with the V12 FF and this car. Wow that's why we love these guys.
known internally as F152, public launch date goal is Geneva 2012. earlier unveiling to VIP customers. KERS or a hybrid will not be launched initially but the main goal is to make it quicker around Fiorano than the GTO. Expect a 700 horse V12, new DCT gearbox and LED's. F152 mule.... I appreciate the video's tout as the "mule" for the 599 replacement but can someone explain where this car is any different than a GTO--I can see or note anyting on the video that is different?
No matter what kind of replacement they come up with. It's Not going to have the same impact the original 599
Completely different exhaust note from a GTO and the rear axle, or wheels at least, look like a wider track than a 599/GTO. Who knows? Taz Terry Phillips
As I said, I'm not belittling the video tout but honestly, the gearbox sounds very similar to mine when you are hitting it very hard in race mode... I'll see if I can blow up the video and amplify it a bit to catch the LED's and DCT points-- Follow up....did a very slow mo run of video and agree it appears LED's as part of front light box in one sequence. Howeveer, sound of engine on front straight at full power really does not sound much different, esp if you compare with GTO video reviews by Auto/Sport and EVO. Gear box shift at full power also not conclusive imo--and I could not catch 7 speeds anywhere on video. But, of course, who knows....?
It sounds like it is DI compare the exhaust notes of this mule with the FF mule [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yc_5t1buOcI[/ame] Definitely sounds like a DCT too, listen to the slower gearchanges, like at 1:08 & 2:00 [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-f0fdtUg6w[/ame]
Yep, sounds different to me as well. I would go along with the DCT + Direct Injection theory as well, nothing else shifts quite like that.

599 production has not ceased - and is in fact continuing for the medium term. Launch date for 599 replacement was originally pencilled in as March 2012 (Geneva) but that date has been moved out - could be towards the end of next year.
Check out autocar.co.UK thread http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/258203/ Just because it looks like a 599 doesn't mean it's the 599 replacement.
I could see Ferrari putting hybrid technology in the California prior to any other model. Makes sense. Perhaps this is not a 599 replacement after all.
