Sunday, I removed the outer lower driver's door skin due to a rattle in my door believing it was a busted mount on the window rack. It was not.....When I removed the skin, laying on the bottom of the door was the part below just sitting loose. Everytime I closed the door or did a hard turn this piece would roll around.

I looked all around the inside of the door and the parts manual; Cannot find where this part may go. The windows, door handles (inside and out) all work fine. Can anyone help me in identifying this part and telling me where it might go?

    Your help appreciated.

Have you tried locking and unlocking the door with the key lately?

I believe that is the hairdryer holder, but it might also be the hair gel clip, I could be wrong though :D

Is it possible that this part was replaced by somebody in the past, and they left the old one in the door.
It might be part of the door lock mechanism, that's replaced as a whole unit, and it was replaced bacause this bit broke off.

Great call, but I just tried and the key works well. I do not believe I ever used the Key that way before.

Thank You for the great idea though...

BINGO! That is part of the door mechanism. I had that break on my 355 and a friend made me a replacement, as a new door handle is about $500 or more. Hill Engineering now makes the part, so you do not have to replace the entire mechanism...

Silly the technician did not have the sense to remove the broken pieces.

I believe you are right on.....Looking at the picture of a handle from Ricambi's site, I can see that the part on the back side of the handle.

I am currently out of town so I can't look at my handle but I do know it is working properly. Hopefully, my handle has already been repaired/replaced....

Thank You so much...This list is great!

The part is made from some sort of really cheap casting. My buddy did a cad drawing then machined it out of aluminum. Made the proper bends and drilled it for the little "bumper" stop. Looks similar to what Hill came up with. :)
