Part of me feels sorry for 'em - F1 has always had back markers...... But as noted, they really shouldn't be out there right now. I was with Surtees when we struggled in pre-quali, and it really wasn't any fun when you "celebrate" making the grid! "A bolt fell into the engine!" WTF? My listening suggested they wanted to blame Cosworth - Not a good strategy....... I think their front wing also failed the "stress test"! Charlie has repeatedly "clarified" the rule and increased the loading applied in the test. Come on guys, this is basic stuff! Cheers, Ian
Possibly. But Aus is a weird track - I still hold out hope that more "normal" tracks may be different [How's that for optimism ] And with plenty of tire stops the end result may be OK. And don't forget the DRS Cheers, Ian
Almost sounds like you're relying on peculiarities and gimmicks to provide interest. Well, any port in a storm.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/formula_one/12869724.stm About 1.5sec of pace is missing id say. I wont right off anyone yet not Ferrari but there is alot of work to do. Still the tires will be different tomorrow and later at other tracks.
Petrovs performance was great I like the guy as I think he has real talent. If RB don't eat their tires up I see a repeat of 2010 unless some of the other top teams make huge strides. Looking forward to the race but cannot wait until we get back the 7am schedule.
Exactly...... BTW, HRT are indeed out; "Exceptional circumstances" - The car/team/management/whoever suck is exceptional! http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/90242 Cheers, Ian
Remember the mention that Pirelli were thrown for a loop with compounds as they were expecting hotter temps and not the abnormal 60 degree temps during qualifying.
It's a subjective complaint IMO. Schu was on a out lap in Q1 when he was partially in Vettel's way. What I found incredibly odd is Schumacher's Q1 time on used hard tires was identical to his Q2 times on soft tires. There should have been at least a second lost on those soft tires. I wonder if heat was an issue etc. Ferrari was having the same type of issue. Strange qualy or a possibly picture of what to expect? I am guessing it's a little of both.
Not that I heard - I think the stewards look back at all the tape (sic) and "warn" for things that maybe the affected drivers cried about (?) This from Colin Kolles - Are these guys delusional? [My emphasis added] Where it belongs? In the trash it seems Comments from the jockey's and more from Colin here: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/90247 The drivers praised everyones hard work, and Narain commented that they just needed 24 more hours....... I assume they go directly to Malaysia from Aus? Cheers, Ian
As soon as quali was over I went to bed so missed the after quali interview so cannot say if SPEED mentioned it from this side of the pond.
How exactly does what they did show that they can run more quickly? IMO they're over reaching already.
*Exactly*!....... The only thing they showed was they're clueless - Wings fail the test, bolts fall into motors and they can't even get the car out until quali. They really are an embarrassment to the sport at this time. [And I'm one of the few that would like to 'em to do "well" ] As for the "wrist slaps" given to MS, NR & LH - I'm starting to suspect JT's hand here - I reckon he and Charlie may be saying to the boys - "We're watching, know everything, and baulking someone (even if unintentional) is not going to be tolerated. We've even got an ex-driver looking, so BS is out as well!"...... As long as the long arm of the law is applied consistently and to all of 'em, I have no problem. Cheers, Ian
