In regards to other manufacturers BTW, Porsche HAS evolved and pushed the envelope -- read Panamera and Cayenne (understand not true sports cars but deserve merit in their own right). Also boxster is a relatively newer model and consistently improving for a bargain price... Ferrari are great cars don't get me wrong, I love them, BUT to call the FF car avant-garde and innovative is a bit of a stretch (BMW Z3 coupe for shape, Carrera 4S for all-wheel drive, etc).

Look at the OP's post history. This guys opinion is irrelevant.

His profile suggests that he owns an F430...?

It seems every premium marque attracts a cadre of professional detractors. Porscshephiles were appalled at the intro of an SUV and (god forbid) a big 4 door sedan. Yet both have been big sales successes. In the pages of the BMW club's magazine, there is constant ranting about the "Bangle butt", run flat tires, yada yada. They basically want BMW to bring back the 2002. When the Cali was introduced, it was maligned unmercifully here and elsewhere. I thought it was a great product filling a weak spot in the lineup. It has been a great success and used ones sell for the same as Scuds! I also thought the 612 was nice but sales weren't so hot. Perhaps it's competition from Bentley and others at lower prices was too much. So now the FF debuts and right off, it is differentiated from all the other 6 figure luxo sedans and coupes. It's not for me, but I can see why Ferrari wanted shake things up and put something out that is unique. For 300K+ you should get something.

I don't think the OP has seen the interior pics or contemplated how awesome putting 670hp into a vehicle is.

I love all things Ferrari, but if you put the same exterior styling without a Ferrari badge on it, it would be nothing worthy of mention. The specs are amazing but, come on, it looks sort of like a Honda Crosstour to me. Sorry, just my opinion.

Talking about the demeanor and tone of the thread starter doesn't change the fact that this car is awful and a new low for Ferrari. Guess I have enough 355 and prior cars to fill the bucket list with.

When i read an article fifteen years or so ago with the current head (Montezemelo sp?) i remember how he gloated over the NSX and i hoped he wasn't going to make Ferraris like Japanese sports cars (though i have a few that i love). The Camry Solara is more fun than a NSX and i've driven both. He's done worse by making a fleet of techno laden, odd looking over sized monstrosities.

The California, GTO, 612, gate shifter-less 458 and now this hearse?

    WTF?

They used to say a Ferrari was as good as the best of 'em at three times the price. Now their not as good as the rest of 'em at four times the price.

The OP is laughing his butt off as he has once again gotten people on this forum to argue with one another on a subject that's been covered better before.

All Ferrari has done is keep up with modern times (in which gateshifters have become pointless and therefor obsolete), or even stay ahead of it. The fact that new Ferrari's almost every time spark controversy, is actually a good thing.

All these years I find myself saying the word "wow" when I see a red Ferrari for example when I saw the F50, F40, 288GTO, Enzo, 512TR, to name a few it just made me feast my eyes on those designs. However this new FF looks bland, boring. Nothing exciting to it with its design not to mention high price for it! If I did have the money to buy it I'd spend it on the 458 instead. I mean what would the late Enzo Ferrari say about this FF?
Take that shield off and the car looks average. I wish Ferrari designers should design the next car with that "wow" factor once more. I'm waiting to see what they'll come up with the next F70.
With that said, I'm sure Ferrari will not have a hard time finding buyers for this FF.

How many Pagani are sold a year? What is the cost of a Pagani? Does Pagani make a 2+2 GT car? :)

I think Maserati took a big stride with the Granturismo and the Grancabrio. Frankly I would say those two models brought the company back from the grave.

Right up until his death il commendatore Had final say on design apparently .
If he was alive the FF would not exist.
    End of story!

G- Bull crap, Enzo did not really care that much about the street cars as long as they made money to support racing.

Find some original material. End of story, indeed.

Enzo preferred the 2+2 Ferraris to the Berlinettas and where the road Ferraris he actually drove. On that basis I suspect he might have liked the FF.

Of course, technology evolves and the 911s and Lamborghinis of today are better than the old ones, but bdelp is right this time: conceptually those cars have not evolved in 30 or 40 years. The same cars, but with better technology, like a re-make of a classic movie. Well, yes, there has been only one change: they´ve adopted four wheel drive, but even aesthetically they have not changed in all these years.

Of course Ferrari has not been much better: the 458 is just a bigger and better 308 (although in this case there has been an aesthetic evolution). But this FF, love it or hate it, at least brings some fresh air.

"Porsche hasn't done anything new since the 80's with the 924 and 928. Then, they went right back to 1964."

I'd say the Panamera is new. Not a sports car, per se, but definitely new design and thinking.
