I tried Google and couldn't find much info.

Are these street legal in the US?
What is the approx value these days?
And where would one find one? (Anybody know of any for sale?)

Also - anybody know what specific year/variant the one pictured is? Seems to have slightly different body work from most

Yes it would be street legal in the US, anything prior to 1968 is. I believe that car is an early (1946/47) prototype of the SAAB 92 that came out in 1949.

Good luck finding a 92, they're pretty rare. I had a 96 once, very odd and unique car, I loved it! They're much easier to find and still pretty cheap.

Thanks! I was able to find this link:

Seems you are right, it's a 1946 prototype (I guess that's what 001 means). Too bad, I think it looks significantly better than the production model. I still like the production 92 though.

Anybody else know where to look for one/approximate cost?

This is a one-off prototype of Saab's first automobile, it's located in Trollhattan at Saab's world headquarters and it's not for sale. :)
I happen to own one of aprrox. 7 92's in the USA. They are rare even in Sweden.
They are quite different than a Ferrari! The engine is a 2 cylinder 2 stroke. 28hp.
    Lots of fun.

Only seven in the US! Wow. Gorgeous car! Thanks for the information and photos, and I'm glad my post persuaded you to join :) I guess I will have more luck finding a 96 then. Thank you again
