Sorry about the delay fellas. I have been under the weather for the last several days and haven't done much of anything.

About the WTF now questions. Trust me that is what came out of my mouth.

    So what was it?

Who can tell me what's missing I this picture?

    Bingo!

And guess where the little bastards went? That's right I said bastardS. Three of them came off the 24/lb-ers when I went to do an "easy" swap.

Right down the rabbit hole. Just flipping great!

Duct tape a straw to the business end of your shop-vac and see if that doesn't retrieve them.

Too late. Besides Rick, that makes too much sense. :D

I have already torn apart the top to get to the little bastards. They popped off and fell down the #2, #3, and #5 intakes ports of the head. One of them was sitting on top of a valve stem, the other two were "kind" enough to find their way behind the valve stems. The good thing is that the valves were CLOSED! Man I would have been IRATE had they gotten into the cylinder.

Don't worry I took plenty of pictures and will be posting the "easy" injector swap, and the plenum removal how-to. Just in case someone else is unlucky enough to have the tips of their injectors come off. ;)

That's the reason I know what I know about these cars.........because I have had it happen to me, and have had to deal with it.

Hey Ernie, Thank You so much for the tip on Mr. Injector! Just got mine back! The turn around is really fast and they even sent me some Jolly Ranchers! The injectors are all balanced and look new! I have to wait until I get my fuel rails back from the powder-coaters to do an install, but I just know the car will run even better!

Sure. I am guessing they are the original injectors, don't know if they have ever been cleaned. I have 54,000 miles now.

Your chart does not seem like there was much change. I dont know anything about the values shown but it would seem to me that a maximum of a 4% change in each injector would not create a noticable difference in the driveability of the car or justify the hassle of taking them out. I would be intersted to hear what your thoughts are after driving the car.

I will let you know after they are installed if there is a noticeable difference. My reasons for having them cleaned and balanced were two fold. First, it was a "while I'm in here" situation. I had been changing out the fuel filters and I had the right fuel hose connection break so I had to drain off the fuel. That lead to me wanting to shine up the fuel rails while I was in there. Which lead to pulling the injectors because they looked dirty on the outside. You can see where this is going. Needless to say everything in the upper fuel system is now new or cleaned. My second reason is that I want the car to run at its absolute best this summer. I figure with cleaned injectors, Helm's gold connector kit, new plugs, filters, oil, new TPS's, new crank sensors, and new hoses where needed. I really want to know what it felt like when it was new :D.

Pattern is as important as flow. Atomizaion of fuel is critical for full burn. Just imagine if they created a stream like a squirtgun instead of a mist. Certainly wouldn't burn as completely. Flow could be the same, yet burn dramatically different.

The Jolly Ranchers are a nice little surprise aren't they. Bill sent them in my box too.

Your injectors where in better shape than mine where. But you would have never know had you not sent them in. Plus, now you know for a fact that they are dead nuts working at 100%.

Yup! Even if they were working 100% the O-rings looked a little rough and needed replacing and the injectors were dirty looking and needed a bath. The best part is I can rest easy knowing they are clean and won't cause any issues that will cost a lot more than I paid to clean them. Again, Thanks for the heads up on their service, very happy. Now if I could just find a reasonably priced fuel hose! If anyone has hose #143786 Fuel flute to filter at a reasonable price let me know! At current prices you would think they are weaved from gold ;)

Got the injectors out, will send them in tomorrow...

Ok, I am such a chicken... I'm afraid if I tear down both sides simultaneously I won't remember how to put it back together... :( :( :(

so I did the drivers side first and will do the passenger side when I get the first set back.

I know, I know, stupid. But I am way in over my head here and between the gold kit and now the injectors I'm nervous as **** that I screw this up.

And then the car will run for **** and it could be any of 80 wires that I screwed up...

    Kai
