hey guys, I know there are plenty of threads on all these exhaust systems but I am feeling that my Nouvalari might be a a little on the loud side for me and was thinking about swapping it out for a Capristo level 1.

Anyone have any direct experience of both systems? It seems very hard to get an idea off youtube etc.. lots of people have other factors affecting the noise. I am running standard cats and standard headers.

It would be great if we could get a standard recording setup and somehow managed to record all the different systems across a level playing field. :)

I'm reluctant to splash out on a new exhaust only to not like it either!

p.s the Nouvalari sounds AMAZING through tunnels and at high RPMS it just really too boomy and noisy at low revs. In my inexperienced opinion I'd expect the Capristo level 1 to deliver the same at the high revs but be more civil around town.

Am I along the right lines?

Which Nuvolari did you get? What do yo mean when you say it is to boomy at low speed-do you mean it drones?

    Do you have the supersport?

Are you running stock cats, hyperflows or straight pipes?

Very respectfully, I'm always a little amused at owners who find their 355s to be TOO loud. It's a 355! It's probably the best sounding Ferrari ever! Rejoice in it!

It's just the sport model and just standard cats and headers, as I mentioned this is why it's hard to get a benchmark.

I agree and when out on the open road I do rejoice in it! However, the other day I literally started it up and rolled out the garage and down the hill without even touching the throttle and had an older guy shake his fist at me! (didn't know anyone actually did that anymore). The standard exhaust although too quiet for my taste does sounds well engineered where as currently it just sounds like noisy but not in a good way, unless your flooring it and it sounds noisy in an awesome way.

By boom, I mean a deep, reverberating sound. On even the slightest bit of throttle at any rpm.

Well, I have a Cappy 1 with test pipes and stock headers, Cappy valve. At wide open it's loud. But my minivan-loving wife has taken trips with me in the 355 and thought it was fine. When the valve is closed, it's very civil and there is no drone.

I have the super sport on mine with gutted out stock cats sounds fine to me BUT it is boomy between 2-3k rpm which is the only downside.

    Well respectfully-

We're all buying these "off-brands" without ANY knowledge of what we are getting. I've ridden in a few 355s with exhausts that would drive me NUTS. Really raspy under power and very "boomy" when mid-throttle- like the way you drive 90% of the time if you live in a civilized area.

A really great exhaust is loud, but in a musical way and does not boom or resonate in the cabin- I mean not AT ALL. My 355 has a Quicksilver Stage 3 which is wickedly loud- but it sounds so rich and raw and in the cabin it's certainly not quiet- but NEVER boomy and does not have that "metal-on-metal feel that some systems have- even when properly installed. it's a really good loud that makes the car such a thrill to drive- I know everyone *****es that the 355 is not fast enough- but with the right exhaust it sure feels and sounds fast enough!
