Kai, no reason you can't do a couple plugs and prove your work by starting your car. Then keep going until done. Don't sweat it just measure twice and cut once. Pay attension use your digital camera.
Ya Mikes injectors looked pretty good but Bruce is right about the spray pattern. I have sent several sets to Mr injector on various non Ferrari cars and seen injectors that were much worse. I have been waiting to do this on my car as well but a couple of points for those considering this job. Before I send in my injectors I will be pulling both fuel pumps to inspect for the known rubber parts that like to disinigrate in the fuel tank. Replace all degraded rubber with new fuel rated material. Next change the fuel filters and drive for a while. As the very last thing I will be sending out my injectors. If you've ever turned one of the 348 fuel filters upside down and drained what is supposedly the filtered side you would not be happy. Better to work on the whole system and start from the ground up or you could be throwing away your money with injector cleaning. By the way check out Mr Injectors web site! It's great.
Kai, I like Bruce's idea. Take your time, label everything.....organization is the key...you can do it
I swear, I am a nervous wreck. I won't sleep well for weeks until all is back together and the car actually starts and runs... Thanks for all of the encouragement. Kai
Relax Kai, I am right were you are at this point as far as having my car disassembled. Take things in a logical order. Only do a little at a time when you are in the correct mood. As for you injectors, send them out all at once and have them cleaned. They do not need to go back in the same bores the came out of if they are balanced correctly. If you need help just ask we will try and guide you through. I call Ernie all the time when I need info. The wiring does look formidable, however, it too is actually not that big of a deal just time consuming. Again do things slowly in logical order. Mark everything and keep parts in labeled plastic bags. Make good use of your cell phone camera too. That's how I do it. Hang in there brother.
You will never know what the car felt like new. You have installed the gold connector kit which allows precise signals from the sensors to the motronic units. Even new the cars would not have run as smooth. All you can hope for now is to know what your car was supposed to feel like when new. Just my two cents
That is exactly how I thought when I took my clutch apart in September. You will be fine, you have the 348 Brotherhood here to assist you if you get stumped. Organization - take notes, label everything (as Bruce suggested masking tape on the wires), take pictures, and don't forget that lunch bucket.
Got an email from Mr. Injector already. He said that my #5 injector had 7% reduced flow and had a really bad spray pattern. Should get them back Friday or Saturday and I will send him the new batch Monday. If all goes well the car will be back together by next weekend. Kai
