I'm replacing my rear defroster switch on the top of the center console of my 85 308gtsi. I took the ashtray out and was able to sneak out the switch. I would like to take the whole top off but the rear of it seems to be stuck. Are there hidden clips holding the rear of it down?

The panel has a lip 1/2" lip underneath which holds it in place at the rear. This is what you are freeing. Just pull the panel forward about 1/2" while wiggling it slightly side to side a bit.

Be careful of the ac temp switch capillary tube which extending forward. It is easily breaken with large forceful movements once you've released the panel. You will have to fight the heater cables to get the panel extended.

Thanks Guys. I'm still hunting down the rear defroster switch. Right now I'm trying to repair mine.
