Don't know if it was noted, yet, but Airbus was called before an investigating magistrate in a formal probe.

Just about time for the search to re-commence, too.

Amazing. Hope they can find the black boxes and unlock the key to this crash. However, if there is an inherent flaw in the Airbus design, that's a serious problem.

Well, that sucks, but it's not exactly a surprise, either. I'm sure they'd be in rough shape.

    Why not ?

Much larger secrets have been kept by more people for much longer periods of time.

The containers recovered closed showed that the passenger oxygen masks had not been released. There had been no cabin depressurisation.

I've never been involved with recovery of remains. So, certainly, I must defer, and I don't wish this to turn morbid, but, even so, there are organisms that consume detritus on the ocean floor. I have to believe these remains are still identifiable (dental records, IDs, still belted into their seats, etc.), but probably not from casual comparison to photos.

From what little I know about it the lack of oxygen and deep dark cold will preserve remains for a while. At the depths these remains are at I don't believe Hag Fish are there so maybe they can be identified.

For the sake of their families, I hope they can make positive IDs and put their minds at rest. However, on old ship wrecks, the remains are left where they lie, generally. Often, they're treated as grave sites. I wonder if that was discussed? I mean, I'm not sure what more can be learned from a forensic analysis of the remains. So, the questions becomes, I suppose, whether to leave or recover them for other reasons.

Regardless, it's a tough thing. Concentrate on the black boxes. Learn what can be learned. Prevent something like this from happening again.

They are going to (attempt to) recover as much of the aircraft as they can.

Many of the bodies, they say, are still strapped in seats in the remains of the plane...

They'll have to bring bodies up. No choice.
