Real men are not afraid to cry or show their feelings.

Real men know how to smile, say you understand while shaking your head, act like you are listening while not hearing a thing a woman says.

A real man has developed the ability to sit in front of the TV and not miss a beat while yelling,,,"hey, bring me a beer. You can go back and finish the dishes after you bring it to me. Oh, and bring me some chips and dip too..........., Oh, did I tell you the yard needs mowing? You need to get on that tomorrow morning and when you finish that you need to take my car down and have the oil changed and the tires rotated. I plan on sleeping in"...

I realize this thread is tongue in cheek but real men should be able to sharpen a damn knife. And I don't mean with some girlie $1200 laser guided system either.

I can't tell you how often I go to someone's house and the woman is hacking away with a $150 knife that is dull as a brick and the guy has no clue how to care for it. Buying an expensive knife won't make them sharpen themselves, it makes you look like a poser.

Real men knew how to properly sharpen a blade with a wet-stone before they hit first grade at least in my neck of the woods and ALOT of women these days cannot even boil water.

 

no... REAL men can sharpen a knife with a coffee mug.

 

I've been thinking hard about this for almost 3 years since I knew I was having a boy. Now that I have to teach him how to be a real man by example & teaching its a real challenge.

We have to be intelligent, masterful, courageous, strong, powerful, connected, secure while also being wise, humble, compassionate, kind, grateful and able to appreciate beauty everywhere

Just a FEW things I need to teach him:
Body language & how to dress to project success
martial arts: Judo, boxing, jiu jitsue, weapons
courage is not an the abscense of fear its dealing w fear effectively
Driving & history of cars & racing
mastering finance, investments, economics
appreciating beauty and art everywhere
being kind to animals
spirituality
physical training & sports
history of the world, USA, family, business
dealing w women which is volumes all by itself
looking out for loved ones even while they are fighting you
dealing w failure
choosing your battles
the importance of being understated
choosing role models

Life is like a book we write w many chapters and we need to look deep into the future to try and figure out who we want to be 30,40,50 and more years down the road

It really is like being in a valley looking up at a mountain range and figuring out how to get to the peak Easy its not

 

Now that's what I'm talking about.



I always figured that real men are the ex-boyfriend stunt-double. As in they're the ones who come in after the breakup and are wiling to do everything her ex didn't. This is where you build a legacy.

 

Great listing yet I think you will agree that alot if not most are instilled by building their character and self respect. Those two attributes makes us the men we are now and how we interact with society in general. Wish I had some children so I could help them be all they can be personaly and socially, still trying though!!!

 

What's sad is you have to even think about it. When I was growing up, I somehow knew all these things just by hanging around. For example, I don't recall my father ever telling me to never hit a girl. I just knew you didn't hit girls. But the world had changed by the time my son was born (1987). I had to tell him not to hit girls even when they hit him first, which never happened in my day.
