Hi Jacques, Jack and Craig just had a discussion about this on VintageLamborghini.com: http://www.vintagelamborghini.com/vlgforum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=29694&start=180 Does that help? Cheers, Fred
Thanks Fred! got the info on the other forum. on the other hand how is the rubber held in the trunk? I have 2 trim pieces one is straight forward but I am not sure about the second piece by the latch as it was missing when I got the car. Jacques
#0412 has been sold yesterday for 132.000 euros + costs => 155.760 euros to a french private collector, raising his Lamborghini collection... Good deal, considering it just need a new paintjob and a big service.
This sunday @ a local show MOTORE 0319 AUTOTELAIO 0351 Does anyone know this car ? any info .... http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/4148/dscf7313s.jpg http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/968/dscf7383d.jpg if someone can post my pic in here , would be appreciated ...
#0361 , discussed in this thread 2 years ago http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=138507644&postcount=336 The car was for sale by Fantasyjunction last year.
I've spoken to Edmond Ciclet who confirmed me one of his friends bought it at the auction... there is a mystery about the engine 3,5 or 4,0 ? That to be said means it might be one of the Interim...
Oops ! you're totally right I confused numbers that must be # 0361 sorry but what about those double headlights ???
quite usual as the twin headlights give better results in night driving compared to single ones... but it can be purely esthetic or finally due to big stone chips replacement...
the car had been in the family since 1972 and has had no cosmetic restoration since new.The brakes were shot.looked good from 10 feet away. This was not a show car! Jacques
Jacques, I never said or let people believed it was a show queen... and for this kind of money, it is a real bargain... It will be soon identified as a 350 GT with aluminium body AND a 3.5 or 4.0 engine... may be one of the two 4.0 & alu ever produced... Still no regret to have let it go ?????
I agree I think this 350gt was a great deal and I have a feeling it may have been an interim as well.anyone know if it had a lambo transmission and diff? I don't understand why they would want to auction that car in that area with that auction house? isn't the auction house specializing in repos? someone got a deal. Jacques
Hi, From the pics of the gear shift it looks to me to have the Lamborghini transmission. But what's concerning me is that it is said to be an aluminum bodied car. My Lamborghini transmissioned 350 has vin #394 and is steel bodied and this one is # 412 and aluminum. I thought the factory finished with aluminum when they started with the steel. Anyone knows better? Best Regards Lars-Erik
Hi Folks, I'm not sure exactly what the questions are, but here are the original delivery details for the three cars: Chassis 361 - Engine 319 (L351) - Tranny: ZF - Diff: Salis Chassis 394 - Engine 367 (L351) - Tranny: Lamborghini - Diff: Salis Chassis 412 - Engine 397 (L351) - Tranny: Lamborghini - Diff: Salis Cheers, Fred PS: 394 was for sale in Europe a few years back with this info: Sports car/Coupe, Classic Vehicle Price: 160,000 EUR Mileage: 45,170 km Power: 235 KW / 320 PS Fuel Type: Petrol Gearbox: Manual gearbox First Registration: 5/1966 Colour: Red Vehicle Description: Lamborghini 350 GT Interim 1966, #0394 Steel bodied, original 350 engine # 0367 (with rare triple chain distribution) Touring chassis # 18914 All numbers matching factory documents. 45170 Miles from new This particular car is one of the rarest steel bodied/350 block combinations. The car was delivered new to Jake Kaplan, Rhode Island, then East coast importer. On behalf of the NY-based Italian owner Maurizio Sainaghi the car got refurbished in black leather in northern Italy approx. 15 years ago. In Germany for 10 years now. Car was originally delivered in bianco spino (white) and has a beautiful quality red paint job. The engine runs well and smooth and compression of each cylinder is above 11 (bar). This car comes in a beautiful very fine original condition with a fine straight body, the original Borranis are in need of some polishing. A rare opportunity for the real enthusiast out there! Questions welcome! http://www.mobile.de/cgi-bin/index_cgi.pl?lang=en
Hi Olivier, Yes, if it is now a 3.5 or 4.0. But it was originally delivered with a 3.5, regardless of what happened afterwards. So many of these cars were later fit with a 4.0, I don't think it matters that much what it has now. Just my .02 btw... Cheers, Fred
Which direction is the correct direction for the transmission mount on a 400GT 2+2? Do you have any idea of how many 2+2 have the mount installed incorrectly? There are thin shims used to perfect this dimension, but if you choose the wrong direction for the mount - ROTFLOL Altho this looks simple to understand, if you have not personally seen this brace and the chassis mount points, you are not aware of all at play. picture at - http://www.vintagelamborghini.com/vlgforum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=29694&start=220 350 the same? Islero the same? Espada the same? Is the parts book always correct? Ya think PB judges are checking this detail? (Gee, look at all the stuff under here) I think you could shoot a laser to confirm this alignment with todays cheap, availalble equipment. Wouldn't that impress a customer! Yep we took some gum and stuck Jethro's pocket laser pointer to the trans tail and it was right on the diff! We charged 3 hours cause of all the gum residue on the pointer. Hi Fred, Thanks for asking.I finally got the rubber in place but I am now having problem with the trunk scissor hinges.I can't get them to synchronize.I can only get one side to work at a time.I believe this is a common problem on those.it's driving me nuts! no wonder they change the design on the later cars. All the trim pieces have now been fitted and We're now moving at a faster pace.I should have the car painted in 4 weeks. I'll send more photos soon. Jacques Image Unavailable, Please Login
Whew doggies! Craig, don't base the correct direction on my car! I don't think I paid attention to the correct orientation almost 30 years ago now. If mine is right, it is only by chance. I don't remember spending any brain power on this one, just put it back together the way that seemed right. Who knows, maybe that's why my driveshaft was making noise? (which the hose clamps fixed completely) I can only guess this is a job for "looking at old photos of original setups" -- but there would be very few of that particular feature. Interesting....another thing to ponder. Fred PS: Monza has the cross-member as in the parts book -- so mine is upside-down??
