Hi everyone, I did a search in this forum for "track" and got lots of threads and tidbits of information here and there...but (at the risk of sounding lazy), I thought it would be nice to have a thread where folks enter what they know about renting time or entire tracks or track days or anything about getting our Ferrari's out on the track... I am itching to learn to drive on one and get some track miles on my car...please add to the thread with what tracks, contact info you might have, location, "what its like" experiences, costs, etc, etc. Thanks in advance, Dave
Hey..I know this guy. He wrote a book about Arizona. It has track information, contact numbers, track maps...ect... in all seriousness I am in a hotel in California..otherwise I would post it..(rather than hinting at you buying my book). Sorry..for today, someone else will have to chime in.
Theres an event this coming Saturday, April 2nd, at Firebird hosted by NASA and is a great way to learn track driving and is open to anyone that can pass tech inspection with their car. If you want a quick session they offer something called Hyperdrive which is $40 and it includes a 15 minute track session with a teacher as a ride along passenger and classroom instruction. They also offfer a session called HPDE 1 which is track driving for longer durations with an instructor. That one is $169.99 but you have to purchase a license through NASA to participate in that for an additional $45. The license is valid for a year. Its a great experience and I suggest every auto enthusiast to give it a try. Check this site out for more info. http://forums.nasaaz.com/showthread.php?t=4677
Your friend wrote a cool book ;-) Just ordered it for delivery tomorrow! Now I know who you are...red CS, right? ...we met at the last C&C...I was the one that bugged you to show me your car...
I go to events by Pro Autosports, usually monthly at different tracks at Firebird. Usually don't take the Ferrari but the Nissan instead. I have been told that if we get at least 10 cars together, they will give us our own run group.
LOL..actually it's me that wrote it. NASA is another way to enjoy track time. PIR is closed leaving just Firebird for locals to enjoy. I prefer Firebird East.
I know...thus the ;-) Book arrives tomorrow...love that it has your CS on the cover...makes me feel like it was written just for me!
I have been trying to get Ferrari guys in AZ to take their cars to the track since I was the FCA regional director and track driving instructor (which was a joke, since nobody would go to the track). I felt like the Maytag repairman! Could we actually get 10 guys together?
Hi. Just read the NASA rules. It's hard to tell if a 360 spyder would qualify for an HPDE event. Does anybody know? Thanks. Bill
I believe that convertibles specifically need rollbars. But, I just found this: Here is a specific list of "Approved" convertibles. If your car does not show listed then you must provide documentation from the factory (not a dealership) that the car is designed to withstand a rollover, otherwise it requires a minimum of a 4 point rollbar. Porsche 996 Porsche 997 Porsche Boxster BMW Z3 (Optional) BMW Z4 BMW E36 (Optional) BMW E46 BMW E90 BMW 6 Series BMW 1 Series Chrysler Crossfire Dodge Viper Ferrari 355 Ferrari 360 MINI Cooper (2009+) Mercedes SL (1990+) Mercedes CLK Mercedes E Class Mercedes C Class VW New Beetle Saab 9-3 (2004+) Honda S2000 Infiniti G37 Volvo C70 Audi A4 Lamborghini Murcielago Aston Martin DB9, DBS Jaguar XK8/XKR VW Eos Seems like you are good to go.
I seem too late for the one on the tenth. But am up for a track day anytime. Just need to get the right equipment for my own protection, and join the club. I assume one is a helmet. BTW, I am in Tucson. Thanks for the info. Bill
Are spectators welcome? If so, I may drive up and check out the HPDE and talk to the drivers about it. I need the training wheels of such an event to start. Bill
I'm up for track days. If looking for numbers to book a rental, I'm game assuming the day/time work. I am going to look into the NASA event on the 10th (?). I need driving shoes, helmet and gloves...anyone able to recommend somewhere in scottsdale to get them? What to get?
What time? I am going to C&C in the morning (first C&C since I got the CS, so looking forward it). And I have an event in old town that night...so only a somewhat narrow window in the middle for the NAPA thing... I'll check out their website too. Thanks!
No way Ashwin, Dan told Jameson and i that the Honda Accord is the best track car ever made for an amateur no joke. Also, i'll track my VW Bus!
