99' 550 w/ obd II code p1117....anybody have the cure?
I've got a CEL and the same code on my 2000 550 Maranello. I heard from a mechanic friend that the code is the right rear (passenger side) post cat O2 sensor failure. I replaced the sensor with a factory OEM unit and cleared the code, but after driving and stopping the car a few times, the CEL light came back on with the same P1117 code. Any ideas on what I should do?
just looked up that DTC,P1117,02 sensor heater bank 1,sensor 2/ck voltage at heater wires for 02,verify 12 volts,it may turn on and off while warming up,hope this helps, also if it follows standard OBD2,bank 1 is same side as cylinder no 1.
Hi Gary! Yes, assuming you have the correct interpetation for the code, I would suspect either you replaced the incorrect side, or a bad O2 sensor out of the box. I had a bad pre-cat O2 sensor on my BMW, and decided to replace both at the same time. Replaced them, and I suddenly had a P code for the opposite side, pre cat O2 sensor!! So I re-installed the used "good" one, cleared the code, and no more p code. Damn sensor was bad, right out of the box! I promptly got it replaced by the online vendor...
You will need to reset the learned adaptives with a factory scan tool or the light will never go out.
Also the computer doesn't like when you replace one sensor per bank. You need to replace the up and down stream sensors.
