I'm getting married in may (yay!) and need a getaway car. Now, my first request is to anyone out here that's willing to lend out their car. We would just be borrowing the car for the duration of the wedding. I think the best way to do this is for me to drop my car off at your place and borrow your car until the wedding is over where we would then drive your car back to your place to pick mine back up. I know that's a big thing to ask but I figured what's the harm in asking.
Anyway, if nobody is willing to let us use their car for the wedding, does anyone know of another source for a vehicle? Any rental place you guys recommend? Any other ideas?

I definitely think the worst anyone could do is not ask, it never hurts. But, I think it would help if you narrow down a "wish list." Are you looking to rent a Vette, Exotic, recreational, etc. Asking here, I'm sure you are running for a F car or Lambo. Rental for those can be pretty steep depending on your tax bracket, lol. I think a chauffeured rolls royce would be classic. I always wanted a 1938 Packard Super 8 at my wedding, but were never able to locate, lol.

great idea... I've been meaning to ask as well. Anyone want to let me borrow their Gulf Stream for the week end? I mean I can leave my Cessna in your hanger or at your FBO. Just let me know what you think... G4, G5, G550, G6 whatever.

I was going to let him borrow my F40. But I don't want to take it out of the Hot Wheels wrapper.

There is an exotic car rental outfit here in DFW.
Cant remember the name but they run Groupon ads once in awhile.

I know someone (not an FC'er) who loaned a Ferrari dealership to someone for a wedding....

probably doesn't count for much, though...

I can't imagine anyone caring so little for their car that they would loan it to a stranger reguardless the reason. I suppose its true that it does not hurt to ask, but it does make you look like a knob.

there is some risk, but the passion is meant to be shared. I loaned it to FerrariChat user I knew pretty well locally, 1992F40 (Marcus). he got 100x more enjoyment out of it for the day than I would have staring at it in the garage. I'm more of the thinking like Tillman "please sit in it and touch!" than worrying about every little thing that can go wrong. These cars are meant to be enjoyed and things will go wrong, just fix them.

I loan out my vehicles quite a bit to friends, although I don't own an Fcar or other exotic. I'm pretty obsessed with my truck, lol.

I don't know why I left so many details out. I think it was late... oh well. The wedding is May 14th in Denton. As for what type of car I'm looking for... something nice. I know that's vague but it's true. An exotic, sport, luxury, something special car. Someone mentioned an old Rolls; that would be excellent. Like I said, I completely understand if nobody offers up their car, that make sense. That's why I also asked if anyone had any places in mind where I could rent one. And I love the responses I've gotten so far. I appreciate all of them and am still doing some research.

    Rob,

To a friend? Sure, I have lent my Ferrari to friends. Not a problem. Let a complete stranger look at the car, even sit in it, sure. But to lend it to a complete stranger is a bit naive, in my opinion.

By the way, did I tell you about this ocean front property in Arizona that I think you might be interested in?

Marcus was long time FerrariChat.com user active in our DFW area 2000-2005. He was familiar to us as Jim Schad, Chris Pounds, Chris Fischer, etc. I wouldn't say he was even a close friend, I had maybe only met at actual events once or twice before he borrowed it.

He hasn't posted much since then, so something went wrong! ;)

    sold!
