+1 for the Scud/458 story. 599 replacement over 700 HP, so more power, prob more usable torque, faster gearbox, prob higher top speed, maybe almost as light, as the "story of aluminum is not yet told"... with the Aventador sporting carbon chassis, hopefully Ferrari will put the new one on a healthy diet.

I think the 599 GTO is a phenomenal car and one I would love to own, but IMO it is too similar to a Scud marketing exercise, despite the GTO moniker. Hate me if you want, but that is just the way I see it for the moment.. but my opinion is always open for changing!

Conveniently, I predict the 599's replacement will have a stated Fiorano lap time of exactly 0.5 seconds slower than the 599 GTO, even if Senior Alonso could squeeze out several more tenths... things that make you go hmmm... :)

    Ummm.... Lone Wolf.

Maybe if you actually had something relevant to add to this forum people would pay some attention to you.

We get it. You're angry. And, some of what you say a lot of us will agree with.

But, it's getting tiring all the bashing. Give it a rest maybe and remember who you're talking to here.

You probably have a lot to contribute here. But right now you're acting like an angry troll.

OK. I will try to tone it down. but i'm entitled to my opinion too..even if its not always pro-Ferrari. and i was just trying to point out that others agree with me.

I'd say "nice backhand", but on second thought I don't see any resemblance of a compliment there! ;)

Don't worry, LONE, you can voice a negative opinion about Ferrari. Just don't ever say anything bad about Ferrari. Ever.

That's totally untrue. I and others have said many things that I believe they need to improve on or could do much better. Most of us like the new McLaren (aside from the looks) and think it's good to push Ferrari. Almost 100% of the people on this forum like the new Lambo.

So, please come down off your soapbox.

But, you can criticise Ferrari on Fchat. But, you can do it with a bit of dignity too.

....and I have said many relevant and accurate things here that people can learn from if they bother to read carefully. I know of what I speak when it comes to these cars.

Oh relax bdelp, you can muscle Lone into submission, but I'm not gonna take that! :)

Just a friendly crack at the Ferrari "empire" that some think they are building around here. It's just an Internet forum, after all.

Lone, I think it is completely appropriate to constructively bombard Ferrari with all negatives about their product (for which there are valid concerns). However, to further your rant by routing on and jumping on the backs of others who are aligned with you in a very typical testosterone-filled and pedestrian manner, makes you seem more irrational than those who ride the Ferrari bandwagon.

why not make your point in a way that don't make you seem like an 11th grade cheerleader at basketball camp?

Look, we all love our Ferrari's right? Thats why we're here. When a guy gets a new car like a GTO, he's going to be a ten year old on Christmas morning all over again. It just doesn't get much better, and God bless Ferrari for that. Then on the other side of the spectrum you've got guys who've over the years have lost hundreds of thousands (or more) on depreciation from trading up and buying new cars, even though most of them can afford it. Or you have customers that haven't been overly impressed with quality issues or dependability, so on and so forth. But if we didn't love these cars, and we all have our different reasons, we wouldn't be wasting our time and money on them. I think we can all agree on that.

i certainly agree :) most of us are here because we're passionate about the marque; and certainly that passion can lead to frustration & anger over the years (one on end of the spectrum), as well as unbrideled enthusiasm (on the other).

The problem isn't with either of these extremes ... the problem is with the trolls. We all know them, by their posts : nothing but negative commentary to offer, unsubstantiated claims of all the F-cars they've owned, their unparalleled skills on a racetrack, yada yada yada ... all nothing more than evidence of a 12 year old, posting from his mother's basement, hoping to elevate his miserable status in life.

no matter .... that's what the ignore list is for !!!! :)

Yah, like I can muscle anyone.

15 people say he's a troll and I try to help him -- and support him -- because I think what he's saying is worthwhile but he's pizzing everyone off the way he's going about it -- and I'm the bad guy.

In case you haven't figured it out, there's a lot of owners here that want to discuss their cars or future purchases. I would figure the "I hate Ferrari" people just might not be that interested in what we have to say. After all, I don't post in Pintochat.com.

BTW: Have anyone go down into the McLaren thread and dare to say anything negative. That person won't come out without two broken legs. But, I bet you've never attacked anyone there, have you? Nah.

there is hardly much steel in it...

Yes it is a variant. Just like 16m and scud and 360cs and GT3RS, and hell maybe even an R8 or gallardo superleggera or a Ghost to a 7 series, or a... get my point. The original GTO would also be considered a varriant of the 250swb... thats how it raced... (keep in mind I don't think the 599 GTO should have gotten the badge...)

All cars are pretty much variants of another. Its the age we live in.

custom bespoke... doesn't really exist too much... the closest thing to that is the recently made stratos... Even P4/5 could be considered an enzo varraint by some... a very very very good one at that.

and if you are looking to buy a modern supercar... please don't bring up the no liquidity and down 25%... they are "luxury" items. And you PAY for luxuries in life. If you are concerned with resale. Don't ever buy a brand new car off of the showroom floor again (unless its the next enzo etc... and you are the lucky bastard paying sticker for it) PERIOD!!! If you fancy a 12 cylinder ferrari and want to have it as an investment... buy a daytona... or something older.... don't walk into your local dealership and order your new car... its a ridiculous argument.
