I have a problem with my soft top - sometimes. I release the lever and the windows go down - well the right hand one goes down 5cms as it is supposed to but the left hand one goes right down to fully open then when I operate the switch the bleeper bleeps and I have start again and eventually both windows go down 5cms and it all works. Does this sound like a windows microswitch problem?

I have never heard of this problem; I would reset the car's computer by switching the battery disconnect to off for 20 minutes and than on and let the car idle for 15 minutes after. Just make sure everything is off before you reset. Sometimes a simple battery reset fixes things.

Thanks for that but this problem has existed for some time and I have reset the ECUs since with no effect.

Sure sounds like a window microswitch problem. The window goes all the way down, because the microswitch is not giving any indication the window has opened sufficiently to clear the top mechanism. So the window drops as far as it physically can...still not tripping the switch, and so the top gives the "beep beep" warning that the window is not down sufficiently.

If you are comfortable with a phillips screw driver and a wrench, there are instructions on this forum for taking the door panel off and you might be able to figure this out yourself. Either you need to adjust or possibly replace the microswitch.

I have removed the microswitch. I have cycled it loads of times though a test meter and it seems to be fine. Adjustment seemed fine as well. I am now more confused!

check the micro switches behind the headrest, near the 2 folding arms, i have been told there are 3 switches, i belive they are the first contact of sending the signal for the windows to go down, when you unclip and push the roof back, but i could be wrong. its worth a check/test. good luck.

I still have this problem and its very annoying! I used Stabilant on the door wiring loom plug but still no luck. I noticed yesterday that I had the engine running and the LHS window went right down and the hood failed to operate. I then turned the engine off and tried again without the engine running and this time both windows dropped by 5cm and the hood operated correctly. It feels like the microswitch is at fault but as I said I have cycled it with a meter and it works every time. Any more ideas please? Could it be the ECU?
