After visiting and doing some research I plan on buying a house in Austin this year. I'm currently focusing my search in the Steiner Ranch area in NW Austin and also looking at some properties in Apache Shores. Any other areas I should look at or areas I should avoid? I prefer being close to the water. Thanks in advance.
I have a relative that just listed a house for sale not far from Steiner Ranch. It is on 620 near Anderson Mill Rd in a subdivision called Canyon Creek. Look for a listing on Donna Villa Circle. There is an LCRA boat dock for Lake Travis about 5 miles from there. I used to live in Canyon Creek and kept a boat on a lift at Emerald Point Marina near Carlos N Charlies. It's about a 15 minute drive.
Traffic can be quite bad during commuter times along 2222. I'd suggest Tarrytown, if you'd like being closer to town. There's a public boat dock for Lake Austin where Enfield ends. Nice homes, charming neighboorhood.
just remember the LAW ... you can't move to austin, unless you kick someone else out and if you're from LA, you have to get two people to leave ...
Same here with realtors. My second mother (best friend's mother who I grew up with) is a great realtor. She just bought a house out in Steiner Ranch, near her son who also lives there. Great neighborhood. He and his wife commute downtown everyday. It isn't so bad, but when there is an accident on 2222, add another hour at least to get to work through alternate means. Coming from LA, yes, you need to kick two people out before moving in. I don't know anyone in that kind of business. Anyone else?
