The Keels and Wheels Concours de Elegance is this weekend. http://www.keels-wheels.com/index.php I was only going to enter one car this year so I thought I'd enter the 400i. I was accepted into the show and today was move in day. I was the first Italian car there this morning so I had plenty of room to clean her up and take a few pictures. There are some lovely examples of their marque there. . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
A old childhood friend of mine will be broadcasting his show 7am until noon Saturday, JD Ryan formerly of the Russ Martin show will also be there. www.gowolfe.com
I saw the Parking Signs up as I came back from NHRA Spring Nationals thru Kemah...... Too many things going on this weekend! I ended up at iFest with Jimmie Vaughan and LouAnn Barton....a friend sent me his slideshow, looks like a GREAT show this year!!!
Anyone have the auction results, did you buy me that 512Boxer "Uncle Dave"????? The description of the '79 308GTB says "dry sump" yet it appears to be a North American example from the side markers. That was a cute lil' Alfa spyder!!
I was sent a good batch of them but don't have time to resize them all.....maybe later. AJ sent his Copenhagen livery Indycar, from the year he stepped out of it and retired....
okie dokey, here you go............ . The other 5 Fcar owners there said my car was, "parting the red sea". I was the oldest Ferrari there, the only non-red car, the only V-12, and the only car with the engine in the front. . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That looks like Houghtaling's newly restored Lime green Miura?? Did you notice the Exhibitor's name??? Was everyone "nicey nice" in the Ferrari area??? I think the most fun I had was the year Amanda and her girls commandeered the swimming pool. She found some nice stray sunglesses then promptly lost them, into the Lake....
Sorry Tex, I didn't Actually I think this year we had the best acting group of owners we've had in years. (We needed some redemption after the parking fiasco last year.) A few of us were putting kids in cars, talking with the public, and generally being nice. We didn't look stand-off-ish (spelling?) or aloof. I spent a bit of time with my old friend from San Diego. It was fun spending his money in the auction. I helped him drop 4.2. Its a lot of fun buying cars with someone else's money. I had a blast as I always do. Now I have to figure out what I'm taking next year. It might be time to take the RHD Roller. We'll see.......
The Miura S was downright stunning. It was right next to our cars so I had a great chance to admire it. I'll get some pictures uploaded when I get a chance. It is owned by Billy Hibbs Jr. of Tyler, TX. I wasn't there on Sunday when the car awards were presented, but I hear it took first in the Italians. I'll say too that Billy was a great guy to talk cars with! The white Anniversay Countach near him was really nice too. The owner of it bought it back in '90 through MotorCars, so it was really interesting chatting with him too.
I understand the 308 went for 21K and the 83 BBI was bid to 77.5 but did not meet reserve. I don't think there were as many boats this year has there has been in the past. The group of auction cars was also down from previous years. Probably the best example of automotive engineering was parked on the very south side of the field, behind the Vipers. I submitted my Ferrari Art Car to Keels and Wheels one year... They got a very perplexed and distressed tone to their responses and emails... I didn't mean to upset them...... Good to see they have lightened up a little....Art Car Party Girls are always fun!!!!! Good to hear about the Ferrari Corral Dave, I'm sorry we didn't get down.. (by the time the weekend was over Valeria's right hand had run over her left one, with an electric hedge trimmer.)
Ok who is attending and who is showing this year? http://www.keels-wheels.com/content/schedule/schedule.asp I am alittle ashamed bringing this up about an event I have wanted to attend since its inception but just basicaly forget about it but I am setting a reminder on my phone and calender this year and I also contacted them asking about a newsletter or email event reminders. I love Seabrook and have passed the event location many many times going fishing and I also have a few local eateries I have learned about via the FoodNetwork. It is ON this year for me unless work gets in the way, itcould be a "The Mob Rules" meeting for Fchatters!?!?!?!?!
You are kind of early it's in the Spring. I am trying to get thru Valentine's Day, Mardi Gras, and Saint Patricks Parade...... THEN we will worry about Keels and Wheels!!!! And somebody SMASHED the Easter Bunny right up the road, so don't be expecting HIM!
