I have two (2) 456 cars, and they both have the same symptons: When the RPM is at or near idle, and the throttle closed, when turning the car behaves as if the power steering is a little "off." This manifests itself as a "jerky" or "knotchy" feeling at the wheel, and the power steering acting "sluggish." Among other things, I am wondering if I am soon looking for power steering pump(s), or whether the pump is just "underboosted" at low RPM. Has anybody else noticed this situation ? Anybody had to do repairs ? Thanks in advance, ((I have also posted this question in the 456/550/575 SECTION) Scott
I had this happen when I had a small leak in the system and the fluid level got too low. You have probably checked the level already, but the behaviour was similar to what you describe.
