Crickets? No worries. I ended up buying the car, so I am now officially a member of the Ferrari fraternity after lurking here for several years. I pick her up tomorrow.

Congrats! Nice car, nice that it comes with the old wheels -- I'd pop those back on and sell the ones that are currently on the car. Not feelin' the modern wheels on an 28yr old car. Congrats and enjoy!

My feelings also. Although it wouldn't hurt to keep the rims that are on the car now with some sticky tires for the twisties when I want to mount them and use the 16" wheels for everything else. I wish I had a second tire and rim package on my Elise right now for the occasional fun run, since I am using that essentially as a daily driver right now.

I would assume that the original wheels are TRX's. If the original are Ferrari 16" wheels hang on to them as they are very valuable. The car looks very nice and you have a very, one of a kind interior.

Just saw the thread and went to look, but it's gone now. Best of luck and welcome to the insane assylum, er, ah, I meant, the joy of ownership. Please post some pictures when you have a chance. All the best!

I had gone back and forth via email back in August when he had it on craigs list. I never saw the car in person. The info he gave was pretty much the same as the ebay ad. He said he did all the work himself and had old parts and receipts to back it up. At that time the belts had been done at 58000 miles back in 2007. Can't remember for sure but I think it was priced at 30K plus or minus a couple k. Seemed like a nice guy, mentioned he had a couple other classics and liked to work on them.
    Contrats....and enjoy !

congrats, looks great. seats looks like they were inspired by a Daytona or 288 GTO. Different, but neat. The wheels are very cool, not sure what they are, but they are different too. Enjoy.

Thanks everyone. The seller has been a straight shooter; he and I have the same taste in cars and like to turn wrenches as a hobby. I've come close to pulling the trigger several times over the past few years but it never really materialized. I'm pretty glad I waited since this car appears to be well sorted out and it's a QV.......I was previously looking at 81-82 GTSi's. After moving to California last month I decided there was no time like the present to look at some of the local cars. Definitely a good time to be buying anything substantial, whether it be a house in SoCal or a 308!

Also, the other wheels are 16", so I'm not sure if they are original 16's or repro's that were purchased along the way, but it is a nice bonus. There are 17" rims on the car now. I'll see how it rides.

The easy way to tell if your Ferrari 16" wheels are original or repo is if the work "Ferrari" is cast into the face of the rim. The repo is blank and if you see them side by side the profile is a little difference.

Generally I agree with you regarding modern rims on a 308, but those work for me on a GTS. Their open look works well with the open top. And it might handle better, too.

I'd say: Keep both sets of wheels, at least for now. See which you like better for handling. Looks are important, but they're second.
