    Futher Mucker...

Wouldn't ya know it...I finally get around to installing this Oem unit (with lots of help from 3forty8) and despite what the seller said, the unit was as dead as a doorknob.

Grrrr. We suspect a bad internal power block as it will not even power up. I guess we'll see now if it is repairable. If not, oh well, at least it looks a lot nicer than the aftermarket unit I rarely used.

Yep, planning a trip to your shop this week Scott. 3forty8 had done a bunch of these before and we needed an excuse to get together and tell some lies. :)

When I bought mine it came with an Alpine aftermarket. It looks terrible.

I wish I could just put my iPhone into a dock instead of the Alpine head unit. I've seen such a thing somewhere on the forum. Maybe in a 430 or 458, but I can't find those photos. And even if I could, I don't think it said how to aquire such a set up.

If anyone knows anything about such a set up, please post. It was not a blue tooth connection to a headunit. It was actually just the iPhone installed horizontally in a doc in place of a headunit.

That one on Ebay now doesn't look too bad. But it has some cosmetic problems. So I'm not sure I'm going to happy with that idea.

This is my favorite head unit of all time to replace a factory unit. Nice thing about it is the3 choice between amber and green. I find it weird that all of my instruments are green and factory stereo amber??? In any case, has a great stock look and has a rear aux input and the sound quality is unreal when set-up right.

The factory head unit can be changed to green to match the dials (I think it defaults to amber for some reason) it's in the manual but I can't remember it off the top of my head. If you don't have a manual give me a shout and I'll look up the procedure.
