Well here it is...my first Ferrari...found it in a barn! A man came up to me one day at a local body shop while I was getting my drag truck painted and after seeing my uniform he ask if I worked on Ferrari's....I said sure what do you have...he replied ahhh hell I don't remember but its old, black and came from across the pond! (hahaha) I thought that was funny. He wanted me to get it running for him so he could drive it to the local cruise ins. He had let this car sit for 30 years untouched so I gave him a reasonable price for putting some belts on it and seeing what would happen, well he could not get over the cost of belts alone not including seals, hoses, brake work, carb work, tires, so on and so forth. I made him an offer and this is my new ride.....it has LOTS of patina! Should be a fun project for me though, and it is always nice to be a part of saving one of these cars from the graveyard.

Great car but how could he have been upset at the cost of the belts?

    Lovely .

As a mechanic you know the dangers of old piston rings and valve springs. Keep eyes and ears on full alert as you wake her up. Exhaust valves were sodium filled and a known failure point on these 2v cars. Bear that in mind if you keep the car, a valve job should be planned for, for prevention more than anything . I had a black 77 GTB for a while, love the pure lines.

I have a black tan 328 now, but a euro GTB QV i still prettier!

belts , tensioners, water pump, thermostat, seals, dizzy caps x2, dizzy rotors x2, wire sets, carb work and sync. I bet the parts alone were $2000.00

We just finished the major on my 328. Took our time, and 5 weeks to get everything including the a/c done. So i can imagine a sitting carb car needed alot of little things.

Parts are not cheap relative to the price of these cars.

Fun, but not cheap to do properly.

I still need to flush my brakes and gearbox oil!!! :)

No joke!!! The pics I took dont exactly show the badly cracked paint, dried up hoses and seals, and an interior that has never been treated. I also washed it off and pumped up the tires before I took the pics.

Casey, among other things, it might not be a bad idea to remove both gas tank and have them boil out.
30 years is a long time for a gas tank to be sitting around.

Bring it to the Ricambi Rally next weekend (if it's good to drive) and maybe one of our door prizes (wink wink) will be useful for the patina.

That car is six month's away from running safely I'd wager....

But I'm always jealous, when a non molested example like this one breaks cover from it's hiding spot.

There's millions of correct 'bits' that get lost on the higher mileage Ferraris because so many hands have been all over it.

This car is like a King mentioning he "has an eligible daughter" at home in his castle.
And it turns out she's pretty, and can dance!

    You hit the jackpot brudda!

Carreaper has a good point, you would be REALLY happy with this older engine to go ahead and yank it, for the new stainless valves, (getting the heads off takes three days and a gallon of penetrant) and reasemble with the 'early cams" (I know $4,000 for them is a lot of money) and get back to the original NON CAT engine specification.

    It'll howl!

All the OEM laquer paint is cracked by now, unless it was parked in the shade of Dolly Parton's boobs, or somewhere like that....

You need those four round knurled knobs for the air box lid.

Ricambi has them, and be sure to put a dab of epoxy on the studs, so they don't rattle off!

A rubber base gasket under them helps with that too, use a faucet washer from the hardware store.
