I was planning to attend with Michele...until I heard about the Mondial. I'm out! Kidding. Way in provided the weather is nice
Great. Meghan will finally joining me and we are taking another couple too. Hopefully, some of the other usual suspects will take their significant others as well. Now I just have to figure out a way to get her in the Mondial for the 45 minute drive...
Jodi and I are going. The weather may be rain, and I guess I will HAVE to drive in it. Looks like a major cleanup after the event. Unless someone wants to swing by and pick it up in a trailer. What will you do, Joe, if it rains? Will you still drive with the top down?
That my friends is the reason I got the Porsche! No sun=no mondial In fact, let me amend that Gravel = no mondial 20% chance of rain = no mondial extensive highway driving (increased propensity for rock chips) = no mondial Temperature below 40 degrees = no mondial Basically, now that I have the Porsche, seeing the Mondial will be about as rare as a sighting of snuffleupagus.... and for some of you, just as exciting
I know some of us have really beautiful cars but as Pietro always reminds us "Ferrari's are meant to be driven. (and washed afterward) Unfortunately my new purchase of my 348 TS Series Speciale will not be done with the major service until the following week so this car will be missing the first Reading Show. I will be there sans Ferrari anyway. Mike Sassaman
God Bless Pietro, but since he is not going to take the mud out of my wheelwells and rear apron or re-detail my car after the event, I think I will pass FWIW. I hope more people think like you and less like me or else it is going to be a really boring event with a bunch of guys in daily drivers sitting on an empty lawn Either way, I look forward to meeting you at Reading!
When you drive it to C&C, please bring a bottle of Smelling Salts so you can revive us after we swoon from seeing such perfection. I'll even give you one of these d*mn dollar coins that have been laying around here to help cover the cost. Don, going to hide in the basement.
LOL. Don, normally I would use this opportunity to bust your chops, but I am still recovering from that performance your Lotus put on at last weekend's drive. I have to say I was absolutely blown away. I could not believe the performance you got out of that little old car, and she sounded fantastic in the process (sans that rattling sound). Kudos to you.
Thanks for the reprieve. Thanks for the compliment, too. I'm fixing the rattling today; just too annoying to put off. You're lucky in that you can have a Daily Driver, a Saturday Driver and a Show Driver. Enjoy!
I may be in the same boat as you. The F355 is still in the shop awaiting the engine to be put back in. If the heads come back soon, I will have the car there otherwise I will be sans the Ferrari too. See you on Sunday.... Shawn
If you were to ask my wife, I am sure she would disagree I have a Mercedes, where a minivan would do, a money pit that I treat like a mistress, and an impractical two seater. I am not lucky, I am an A S S!. BTW, are you going to attend Reading this year? I hope you do, bring your son too. He would love it!
Just saw the weather forecast, it show that there are a chance of showers on Sunday, so if there are going to be showers, is there a rain date? Hope it doesn't rain, but if it does then we'll just have to wait a little more. Thanks, Jared
Nope, no rain date. If there are green splotches on the radar heading toward Reading Sunday morning, it will be the featured (trailered) cars - F40's, I believe this year - and that's about it. If there is rain, like Zaff's mondial, my BBi and the stradale will be absent. My brother and I will be attending in the nearly as rare VW Jetta TDi Cup Edition and heading off to Victory Brewpub. The last time I checked it was only 40% chance of rain. For those who are mathematically challenged, that means a 60% chance of no rain. So, I am hoping to be there with the CS and boxer to enjoy a beautiful day.
Okay thanks and yeah it would be great to see your Challenge Stradale make the event, it really does have a great sound to it. Thanks again, Jared
let me explain how that math ACTUALLY works. If I drive a nice car on the day it is supposed to be 40% chance of rain, that 40% only hits the area in which I drive 100% of the time, thereby leaving the 60% dry areas everywhere in the state. Thus, I will drive to OC, ensuring you all a dry day in Reading.
We're running in a rally on Sunday. A Brandywine Motorsport Club & British Car Club of Delaware are putting it on. George Alderman (the rally master) talked me into rallying the Elan. I've heard that the target average speed is 28 mph!! I don't think the Elan can go that slow. I'll put the Reading show on the calender for next year.
Well as we approach the eve of the show, the weather is looking a little less than ideal. However, I hope that many of you won't mind the rain! And, more importantly, I hope that the owners won't be afraid to show their cars! At any rate, I have my fingers crossed for the best weather considering the conditions and for a good turnout! - Jan
I will be attending with Meghan. The Mondial is fully detailed and looking forward to.... spending the day in the garage
hmmmm....50-60% chance of rain. The chances of seeing a black mondial are essentially equal to the proverbial snowball's chance in hell. I will be checking the weather channel for a May Miracle in the morning. We'll see...
I'm going, but likely without the Ferrari. I'm pretty sure I read a service bulletin in the book Dave lent me that says any Ferrari manufactured before 1989 will disintegrate if exposed to make than 1" of cumulative rainfall in a 24 hour period. Interestingly enough, it also clearly states that reintegration is not a warranty repair.
Vendor spot and attendence are up in the air now for me...Wife still in the hospitol from a recent car accident. david
