Only thing that I see odd is the plate - doesn't look like any NY plate I've ever seen, but to be honest I don't pay attention to police plates - they might have a different look.

The license plate looks weird. Never seen one like that before. Also what model Ford is that? The new Explorer? It also doesn't look like there are lights in the grill.

I understand it is often used for NY movie scenes because shooting in NYC is too expensive.

As mentioned, the plate, but what's more is the low profile LED lightbar is not employed on their RMPs.

Yes it does look like a movie set. Which police cars use regular plates?

That's right, it is a Canadian license plate ( British Columbia ) on the NYPD car. The photo was taken near Downtown Vancouver 2 days ago, I didn't pay attention what TV show or movie they were filming but it said CSI unit on the NYPD SUV, I hope they will have NY plates put on during the shoot or do something during post-production. I think it is very common to see a Canadian license plated NYPD, LAPD or Seattle police car in Vancouver BC ! LOL !

It looks like a luxury version of what a police car should be with the chromed grill and the nice rims.

Wouldn't it be a kick in the ass if that car actually WAS an NYPD car that belonged to the NYPD technical consultant (cop with a cush job) who advises the film industry on police procedures?

It's cheaper to shoot in Canada than in NYC.

Wondering how long b/f all the TV shows/movies are shot in China!

    Cheers

Right. I was in Montreal about ten years ago, and they were filming. Funny to see a bunch of NYPD cars cruising around Canada.

I immediately knew those were NOT NYPD cars. When have you EVER seen an NYPD cruiser that was not beat to hell, with multiple dings, dents, scrapes, and those HORRENDOUS oversized bumpers that could be used to push a freight train??

The biggest reason this is not a real NYPD unit is that NYPD do not display blue lights facing forward.

CBS hasn't figured out that the NYPD font is a san-serif typeface.

    Also, the blue light thing...

I think CBS is more concerned with "sans-Sheen"... ;)

You would have a hard time finding a banged up Highway car. For the most part they look like new and are frequently washed.
