So I went to see the 2010 model of the Rolex GMT-Series II. I love the watch and would like to see if anyone can beat or point me to a better price than $7250 +tax.

    Thanks!

I just bought a Stainless steel daytona in Guam for a great price. No import tax or sales tax and great pricing Only thing is it is a 12 hour flight not including the layover from the west coast. You have to go in person and the flight is expensive too. I have business there so...

... so you've just nominated yourself to be a watch mule for the rest of us who don't frequent Guam!

FYI, only Rolex knows when the watch is made. Model years are meaningless. Now are you talking about the ceramic update? I think those came out in 2005.

Dealers sometimes have watches sit for years before they sell and the serial #'s are a secret to Rolex.

I think you can beat that price walking into many chain watch stores and asking them to beat it. Or trying a jewelry mart (just make sure it's an authentic piece).

Here in California, places will first try the "no tax" is your discount tactic; then perhaps flip to a "percentage off" but with tax, and perhaps...just maybe...end with a no tax and a discount percentage. Of course, the better the relation and history you have with them, then better off you will be. So if you have a buddy who is a frequent high-end watch buyer, you might want to buy through him.

I think you can beat $7250 on your own (but what is "retail price")?

Tougher than you think if you have no relationship, especially on the hotter models.....

    I trust you are correct D. :(

I could never get a "no tax & 15-18-20% off deal" myself; I have to use a "donkey"! :D

Cavalier, mind telling us how much the Daytona was in Guam? I will try to convince my wife to go to Guam on our next vacation, so I can go watch shopping!

Flying to Guam is very expensive. Overpriced! Daytona was right around $10k.

I see, thanks! That's not much different from what I can get locally here in Hong Kong. Was able to get a white face Daytona this weekend, thanks to my wife! I am still waiting for the black one to show up!

Just saw a SS Daytona w white dial in the case for sale in Maui - first time I have seen one actually in the case and available. I waiting 5+ years for mine but glad I did since the clasp was improved in the later models and the later models have the scribing on the inner bezel.

I've found prices in Mexico to usually be higher than the states on most things.
The exception is for the Ferrari cars. Dont know why thats just the way it is.
There are many high end watch dealers in the same area as the F dealer. Its fun just to walk around and window shop there anyhow.
Make an afternoon out of it.

I have a fair sized collection and the GMTII is a "collection killer."

You will always want to wear it, it has tremendous wrist presence without being flashy.

Don't sweat saving that last $100.00. Check watchrecon.com for a price range and get as close to that as you can with your AD. Or go to an AD the next state over and have them ship to you and avoid sales tax.

BTW: I got mine for $6060.00 in Dec 2009. Rolex has had 3 price increases since.

    Dont know.
I assumed you meant Mexico city.
I dont think a tourist town is where to look for a Rolex.
    Stop in a shop.
Takes 10 minutes to find out.

BTW if I remember right London airport Heathrow was supposed to have the lowest AD Rolex prices on the planet. (?)
