    Being 9 or 10 years old, my father give me a red model car as a present, (which I'd later recognize as a F40!)
    Looking at these pics I understand that Bburago (the company who made the model) did it from a F40 prototype (maybe the only images avaliable at that moment): seats, fuse panel, "MO prova 983" MOdena testing plate, no black line across the body.. I wonder what exact s/n is this...

    Since then, F-Forty is being one of my favourites, iconic in many aspects involving old school Ferraris and proper 80s supercars in particular.


    PS: looking foward to hearing from someone clocking one at Nurburgring..

    As far as I know all the prototypes had the black line so this was an omission on Burago's part..

    is it possible that Pininfarina did the few 5 vent prototypes body work inhouse, before Fiocco took over doing the production bodywork?

    joe, besides the one car (which i know of) do any of the other 6(?) f40 prototype still have the original 5 vent bodywork anymore?

    I think we are speaking of 8 prototypes the first 4 of which had 5 vents, but I cant guarantee this.

    apologies, 8 cars....the pics you showed for #74049, so it does, i'm just curious to learn how many of the 3? others (if any) have retained thier original bodywork, or if the rest were changed in upgrades they received? hmm? :)

    No numeral 4 or 6 in the side window on that example. Looks like a picture the American car magazine Autoweek used for an F40 article. It isn't 73015 looks like a finished in production example so it could be the 'picture car' F40 used for the brochure (folder) images and the press preview. Note the picture car was confirmed as not having a serial number when shown to the journalists at Fiorano in 1987. The plate should be a clue as to when the picture was taken?
