430 wheels on a 348

There is a guy in the 430 section selling his 430 wheels (19") - does anyone know if these will fit on a 348? I pinged him the message but I am not sure if he knows.

That's what I was thinking...he mentioned that they were on a 360 before, and I thought I read somewhere here that somebody has 360 wheels on their 348, so I am thinking they should fit...but I will wait for an expert to verify

i saw 430 wheels on a 360...looked sweet but i think they will stick out just a bit further on a 348...guess i should have swapped em onto my car when we had them both on the lifts for a picture!

 

Yikes - I don't want them bulging out...

 

I think they'd need to be cut down --- but the bigger issue (IMHO) is the aesthetics of a small 1990's era brake disc visible through a F430 twin-spoke wheel.

The 360 wheels need about 11-18mm trimmed off the back of the hub (depending on who you ask) to get a proper fit on a 348/355. They also require a lower profile tire on the fronts to avoid rubbing at wheel lock. So I would guess the 430 wheels would require the same. Bolt pattern/spacing is identical (5x108mm), not sure on the length of new bolts you would need to ensure proper threading depth into the existing rotors.

It looks like they would need to be re-finished, but these would be a direct bolt-on and they look great on our 348s. I don't know the seller, but he has been an F-chat member since 2004.

 

Eric- 360, CS and F430 wheels all have the same offsets, so you would have the same issues. Here are the OEM numbers for comparison.

I would think 19" would look akward on the 348. Way too large. I like the factory 17" for the 348, they are good looking rims.

Whew, I thought I was the only person that liked the stock 348 wheels!

 

Although I have seen some wheels that I would like to have on my 348, I have to say that I am perfectly happy with the stock 17" wheels. It was actually those wheels that I associated with the image of the Ferrari that I would one day own.

 

Jeff has 360 wheels on his 348 Spider and this was a direct bolt on. Bruce has 360 CS wheels and they sort of fit. They do rub a bit so ther should be some spacing or cutting to make them better. The CS wheels have the basket weave so the brake rotor size is not an issue visually. This might be a different looking through spokes.

yep that snow is really hard on em?!?! especially when they never get driven on it...

 

Follow the flow. 430 wheels fit the 360 but a bit wider. 360 wheels fit the 355/348 but a bit wider. Fitting 430 on a 355/348 much wider. You will be able to push the car but not over speed bumps and make sure you hold the steering wheel formthe outside since as soon as you sit in it, you will start rubbing. I installed 430s on a 355 for transport purposes only and they stick out. SInce you don't have much suspension play and 348/355 suspensions do not have negative camber, the 430 wheels will never be an option on these cars unless you do something radical with them. They also loo too big on the car.

 

Steve- 360, CS and F430 wheels are the same width and offsets. The Scud/16M added 1/2" extra width in front with the same offsets. The only difference is the CS and F430 wheels are 19" in diameter and the two 360 OEM wheels are 18".

Thanks for the insight. Can't argue with your tech numbers. Obviously you have been in this game much longer than me but all I know is that when I installed the 430 wheels on my 99 355, it looked so out of place and seemed like the quarter panel would eat that tire away in no time without modifying the offset, tire size or the suspension/spring tension release.

 

We are all in the minority of liking the stock wheels

I heard them called boat anchors
