In the ocean Orcas kill Sharks. Time for the Canucks to slay them on the ice. View at 2:00min mark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SS6NjdGLVZs&feature=player_embedded#at=146
Bah, humbug! I think my Sharks match up a lot better with the Canucks than they did with Detroit. Sharks in 5! (Gotta give 'em one game ) [Possibly 6 as they've discovered winning at home is nice ] Go Sharks! Cheers, Ian
Game 1 goes to the Nucks...good game, SJ looked gassed, maybe that Detroit series took a lot out of them.
I agree. Shark sushi anyone? http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kuXTkDQvRSI/TdADYzX-7sI/AAAAAAAAAl0/8joQBAJ_TdM/s1600/canucks-shark-sushi.jpg
That last minute with TBs Empty Net was one of the most exciting minutes of hockey I'e seen this whole playoffs. Despite the loss, TB looked very in sync as a team.... Not a too bad of a game for Tyler Seguin either.......
Well, that was embarassing... At least it's coming back to SJ now with a chance to win two but that will require a whole lot more effort from the Sharks. Kai
Did anyone catch the flasher on CBC? *nsfw* [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfZll1C5-io[/ame] PS - what a game! As long as the Canucks steal one in SJ, this series is O-V-E-R!!
The Canucks were simply firing on all cylinders tonight. If it weren't for the poor goal by Marleau, it was pretty much a perfect game. If the Sharks learned anything, it's that you shouldn't play run and gun hockey with the Canucks. The Canucks are too deep and skilled for the sharks to do that, and if you're going to do that, don't turn the puck over in the neutral zone. Two way hockey is the primary strength of the Canucks due to their skill, try to out skill them and you're asking for trouble. I think the Sharks need to play trap hockey and simplify their game. It's not pretty to watch, but it can be really effective against the Canucks. Whatever they decide to do, they better do it quick as the ship is already leaking pretty bad. Here are a few things that I noticed in the game 2: 1. The Canucks PK was mediocre at best, their PP...a force to be reckon with 2. Ben Eager needs to keep his head cool, he loss the game for the Sharks 3. The hit on Daniel should have of been a 5min major... end of story. 4. The penalty on Eager for tripping was questionable... but the refs were on him tonight 5. The Sharks' PP was good, but their PK was below average... I don't blame them because the Canucks PP was dynamite 6. Niemi's save on Edler was true top tier stuff... he gave the Sharks a glimmer of hope out there. 7. 5 on 5 play by the Sharks was embarrassing. They were atrocious on all facets of the game (e.g. they were out hit, out shot and simply out played tonight) 8. The twins have emerged from their dormant slumber... they played like the reigning and defending scoring champ. Practically unstoppable due to the sharks not having a top tier shut down defensive pair. 9. The Canucks can be better.... the Sharks need to be much better to have a chance. 10. The defense of the Sharks seemed reluctant to join the rush, their dump and chase method failed miserably without the support from their defense. 11. Marleau did the right thing as he tried to motivate his team to battle harder, he just had no right being in that fight with Bieska. Don't for a second think that I'm counting the Sharks out of this series. They are too skilled, big and deep to be considered a write off for this series. They need to be better and they will be better from here on out. Duplicating any of the two previous efforts and you might as well book your tee time now. I'm still preparing for the worse (i.e. a 7 game series) as we can't overlook any team (just think back to the Chicago series). I'm satisfied that my boys were able to pull off two solid wins at home and feel a little relieved heading down to San Jose. Up 2-0 means little if you falter down the stretch, the Canucks need to take care of business down there in the Shark tank. That building will be rocking as they will give their team every bit of support to help them win. They may have a smaller capacity than Rogers Arena, but that stadium is 3 times louder for some reason. Game 3 goes Friday, may the best team win. Go Canucks Go.
And my Sharks had a really bad misfire! +1 And, IIRC, I don't think I've ever seen Patty Marleau in a "real" fight before - Stupid, stupid, stupid!.... I don't care that it gave the players "a lift", he's one of the fastest skaters out there and fighting is not his thing..... Yep "Must do a *lot* better in the Tank" Agreed, unfortunately!.... I honestly thought Boyle & Murray would keep 'em under control. Outside of the twins & Kesler (sp?) what have the 'Nucks really got?.... "We" should be able to control 'em but they were simply better last night..... Capacity is about the same (~18,000 in each), but the Tank is known as the loudest in the NHL - Dunno why, but I do know I'm hoarse after a game...... +1 I'll be there!..... Fixed it for you Cheers, Ian PS - The flasher beats the hell out of those STUPID green guys! Thanks for the post!
+1 I guess your Slingbox is working well!..... Glad you were able to watch it, even if it did suck! Cheers, Ian
I would have to humbly disagree about the ability to control the Sedins and Kesler's Line. You guys don't have a legitimate shutdown pairing in the back end. Compared to what the Sedins and Kesler faced in the first two rounds (e.g. Keith/Seabrook, Weber/Suter), Facing Boyle/Murray is a gift for them. Boyle's strength is in his ability to join the rush and create tremendous offense. His smaller size is not a hindrance to his ability to play defense, it's just that his attributes are more fitting to create offense. The second line has been dynamite for us. Higgins has emerge as a threat on the ice due to his grit and great passing ability, plus he can finish. His only weakness is speed, that is where Raymond comes in. Speed and stick handling are his key strengths. Then that leaves Kesler who is an absolute beast. This guy can do it all and has all the tools to do it (speed, grit, size, offense, defense, faceoff, PP, PK, 4 on 4, etc...). Now lets take a brief look at the third line. First we have Raffi Torres, who can be liability at times but that is just how he plays. The sharks seem to be scared of this guy as he continues to run them over. Jannik Hansen is the speed and skill player of this line. He's also got enough grit and not afraid to go into the dirty areas. Finally there's Max Lapierre who also posses grit. He's kind of the shutdown man on this line and has this ability to score some clutch goals. Don't know the capacity of the Tank, but I hear the commentators announce ~17,500 each time we play down there. Rogers Arena average capacity is >18,500 for a Canucks game. Still, the Tank is 3x louder. Lucky for you and enjoy the game. What do game 3 tickets go for if you don't mind me asking? In Vancouver, tickets average about $350 for the nose bleed section and ~$800 for lower bowl. At the beginning of the game, I was pretty bummed out that the Green men wasn't at the game, but that flasher definitely got the juices flowing. GO CANUCKS GO!
Uhh... what? Lower bowl tickets have a face value of $6xx and they were going for $200 outside GM Place a couple of minutes before the puck dropped lastnight.
LOL, yes slingbox worked. it was weird though. I listened to the broadcast on 98.5 and watched it "live" on slingbox but the two kept going out of sync and I constantly had to stop the live TV broadcast to let the audio on the radio catch up. I used a voyager pro UC headset and listened with one ear while I was sitting in a meeting, lol. I will be in Hong Kong on Friday night and hope to find a place that's open Saturday morning to watch the game live on TV otherwise it's back to Slingbox in my hotel room. My wife and son are going Friday night. Hope you get to go as well. Kai
Funny, Hitler about Canucks: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8li5gjpjtbw&feature=player_embedded[/ame]
Only for single or pair of tickets, and outside of Rogers Arena, the tickets can be had for a little less right before the game (and even cheaper after the first period is over). I know many people who are season ticket holders and when my friends and I want to go as a big group, we offer to pay more than what the face value is in order to sit as one big group. For example: in game 1, the 7 of us payed an average of $800 for prime time seats in the lower bowl and we took up the entire row. The face value on each ticket was $681, we payed a little more to watch the game as a group. Being able to watch any Canucks home playoff game is a privelidge as it is so expensive. I wish I could afford to be a season ticket holder but it just isn't happening. When my friends and I do want to go and see a game, we like to get the best seats we can while sitting together. But GG is right that if you want to go alone or as a pair, there are some great deals to be had if you're patient outside of Rogers arena.
Isn't that the reason Ben Eager kept taking penalties? I wonder if a Sharks' fan will try that tactic
I guess we're about to find out...... Thanks! Hopefully I'll enjoy it!..... Holey-moley!..... I dunno about the "good" seats but ours (upper section, on the aisle, right behind the goal that the Sharks come towards twice) break down as follows - We have two seats that we share between 3 of us so it's not too bad [All prices + "fees" that add ~$5 ea IIRC] - Regular season; $19 ea - Round 1; $28 - Round 2; $39 - Round 3; ~$50 - Round 4; ~$70 I *believe* one off tickets add ~$10-20 per ticket, but it could be more...... Having said that, last I checked tix up in our section were trading around $200 on the"legalized scalping" site - I'm tempted as selling a pair would pretty much pay for my share next season!...... Go Sharks! Cheers, Ian PS - I'm too am hoping for a flasher tonight!
A brief Quicktime movie from our seats: http://vimeo.com/24018321 It's converting right now, but should be there in ~30 minutes..... Cheers, Ian
