I realize this topic may cause a riot so I'm armed with my rotten tomatoes ha ha. Here it is..... I don't get the attraction for the matte black color. Isn't shiny black look so much sexier on any car?

Ok so it doesn't get dirty but if you can afford an exotic car, then what does a few car washes matter?

It's an ugly fighter jet color and it ruins the cars completely...

I certainly wouldn't have my car wrapped in matte black, as it doesn't suit the F355 well (just my opinion, of course!).

But a couple years ago in Monterey, my wife spotted a matte black Murcielago, and we both liked that car a LOT. My personal thinking is that a lot of today's supercars, like the 430, Zonda, and most of the Lambo family, have lots of jet-fighter-like sharpness to them, that lend themselves well to being done in that color.

Edit: Add the Porsche CGT to that "looks great in matte black" list...

i am a big fan of "to each his own", and i like it.

i would suggest however you put your tomatoes away and walk away slowly...

I think it looks great on some cars...CGT, GTR, Lambos, etc. but the trend has been over-exposed.

Geno, I loved watching that transformation - no doubt, the 430 Scuderia looks excellent in that wrap... (but I like the underlying Azzuro California better!). :)

    Thanks for posting that!

Correct. I would have loved to have my F355 in Azzuro California, but it didn't happen. Maybe next time, if there is one for me.

We had a local guy who used to have a 360 Spider in that color, too, and it was very droolworthy.

It's more like a metallic sky blue....or a silver with a lot of blue in it. Looks great on the right car.

Vinyl (satin, matte, etc.) are only 1.5mils - 2.5 mils thick. It offers very little in terms of protection

Satin Guard on the other hand is a protective film with Dual Tone Technology built into it, which exhibits a different sheen based on lighting. And the product protects like clear bra as it is 8 mils thick.

The Lambo is stunning in the grey... reminds me of a Reventon... It would be interesting if after a few weeks, Kirby could send some pics of the exterior and how well it is holding up to the road...

It looks pretty much the same today as a year ago when it was done. Only difference is we removed the Pac-Man/goldRUSH Rally decals and you can kinda see an imprint if you look closely. Since install I haven't had to wash the car once, I just wipe it down with a little detail spray.

Here are some pics someone took a few months ago at Auto's on the Avenue Event.

So it continues to be robust. What was the underlying color before the wrap?
