Hi, I have 89 Mondial T and there is a plastic 90 degree fitting that plugs into the Master cylinder clutch. It feeds the hydraulic oil from the oil container through a hose connected to this fitting. The fitting is cracked. I have been looking and everyone has a complete master cylinder but all I need is the fitting. 1- does anyone know where I can just get the fitting or is there another car with identical part and buy it for less. I noticed that ALpha Romeo has an identical part and so does Fiats, does anyone know if these parts are the same 2- if I get a new master cylinder clutch does anyone know how to pop off the fitting. I would take new fitting and put it on the original on the car. I have tried to pull the broken one off but I dont want to break anything before confirming. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Lino
Lino, I think I may have that fitting for a spare Mondial master cylinder that I have. I'm out of the country for another 4-5 days, but when I get back I'll confirm to you. Is your clutch master cylinder fed via a hose from the brake master cylinder? The 550's use the same setup, and possibly/probably the same fitting. Have a look at the Ricambi parts page for the 550 setup and items 14/15. I also have a spare 550 master cylinder with that fitting that I'll compare to the Mondial master cylinder when I return. On a related topic, I'm looking for a dedicated reservoir to put on my 550 clutch MC to replace that feeder hose arrangement. I think one version of the Mondial setup does it this way, but like you, I really don't want to buy an entire master cylinder just to get the reservoir. See 2nd pic attached. This might be another option for you as well, unless you want/need to maintain originality. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi John, Yes that is it exactly. I am looking at different options here. I am waiting to here from Alpha Romeo mechanic who may have a spare. None the less if by the time you get back I don't have it I would buy yours. I saw that setup also with the reservoir on the top, seems like good idea but who wants to take that apart for only a plastic fitting. If ever it would fail it may be an option. Thanks for the support Lino
Just emailed you. The 550 parts in that illustration will fit into the Mondial master cylinder just fine. Also, you're welcome to the plastic fitting from my spare 550 master cylinder, but I damaged the rubber grommet getting it and the plastic fitting out, so that would have to be replaced (Item 15 in the illustration)
Hey John, I just wanted to tell you THANK YOU. I really appreciate you sending me the part. I owe you big time. Again if you ever need somthing let me know. thanks, Lino
No problem Lino, glad I could help. The fitting is on its way to you, Express Mail Int'l, and the post office advised you should see it in 3-5 business days.
Hey John, I just went for a ride and no more leak. Fitting worked even though not exactly the same. The fitting had a slightly higher angle opposed to the 90 degree original but other then that it was similar. I can thank you enough. I still can't believe that you helped me. Lino
