You guys are terrible. Making me want to quit my job and move out and live under a blanket in the 308 just for the driving roads. The roads here in OK are terrible for the most part, unless you don't mind driving straight..........all the time.

A clown car?? On the contrary!! The R5 Turbo 2 was a VERY rare car to come across in its days, and that was before the tin worm started to feast on its bodywork.

    How does she drive??

Geno, my 308 is still in the performance mode with emission parts in boxes. I've heard CA may relax the smog exampt rule soon. I will see you in Laguna... Will there be any parade and sport lapping ?

Would the poster who heard that Ca. may relax the smog exemption rule please share the rumor and its source. I would be happy to try to follow up on that to see what might be happening.

I have not heard anything myself but I am very interested in the possibility that this dumb Ca. rule might be relaxed.

The person I heard from is a classic car collector and also in the board with multiple car clubs. The reason he gave was CA is broke, and the state needs revenue. There are lots of post 75 collector cars in storage with non-op status (only $20 fee ?), If CA relaxes the smog rule, it will bring new and badly needed registration revenue. Collector cars are hardly driven and the pullution is minimal. It makes sense to me. Again, this is what I heard, nothing for sure but I wish it will come true... Today, most states have 25 year smog exempt rule but CA

Georgia has a lot of great roads as well, I lived in Atlanta for 15 years. Didnt have the 308 back then though. Loved driving up into the mountains towards Helen.

OK. Thanks for the update on the Ca. smog rules. I will check into this.

While the logic sounds ok, the volume of post 1975 collector cars that are sitting in "non op" status is probably too small to matter even if every one of them decided to pay up and come out of the garage. The state debt is so big, this would not help much.

In fact, we tried using the logic that there were so few of these old collector cars on the road and that they were driven so little, that they were not a risk for clean air. The politicians did not budge on that one.

This ridiculous smog law is one of Arnold's legacies. Too bad.

Took the CA-1 down the monterey today, awesome weather.

Everything was great about Ferrari racings days, but there were only 4 cars in historic class (including 2 512 BB LM's and Lusso).

the 458/430 Challenge was great, the 458 is a really mean car.

the F1 Clienti included 3 Shumacher era cars, a Jacky Icxx, and a Jean Alesi eri car.

the 599XX and the FXX were cool, i had never seen those. All in all cool

Parked next to the California, man that car has a huge ass.

    more pics soon

CARB and DMV are two entirely separate organizations. As much as CA is hurting for $$, the (C)ARB is separate for a reason. To not allow budget woes to mix in with their zeal to keep CA air clean! They (ARB) also care more about factories, pub trans etc than "stupid" cars.

The fixed 1975 exemption rule came about from grinding data and statistics and they put a stake in the ground as a compromise since they tightened requirements further on newer cars. If you've owned the same car since ~1986, look back at the smog checks and notice how the limits have gotten tighter.
