I have a few friends in LA that are hockey fans that I love to watch the game with when the Canucks come into town. It's cheaper for me to fly down there, stay at their place, watch two games vs the Kings and Ducks than watch two games at Rogers Arena.

Those prices that you mentioned is absolutely mind blowing to Canadian hockey fans, but I understand that hockey is the farthest thing on people's mind when you have the NFL, NBA and MLB.

    Enjoy the game.

Lower bowl, row 25, right behind the net. $1k for the pair. Hockey is so expensive here haha

    Game 3 Analysis:

Canucks took too many penalties in this game, I think 10 to be precise. The Sharks' PP was very good as they were able to move the puck with precision and speed. Once again, a solid start with 3 quick goals in the opening period. Their PK was decent only because of Niemi, he alone prevented the game from being tied late in the second. I don't know how to explain it, but the Sharks are not a 3rd period team. They almost collapsed again while holding a decent lead going into final period. Overall a good bounce back game from the Sharks.

On to the officiating... sorry, I meant lack of officiating. The second 5on3 for the Sharks should not have been a penalty, or at least give Wellwood a diving call. The 5on3 for the Canucks should never have happened either with the way things were being called tonight. They let so many things slide that it's extremely difficult for the players to play their game without second guessing themselves. Bieska should have been called for a hook late in the game but wasn't? I think we can all agree, the officiating is just brutal in the playoffs. No specific team has an advantage, but all teams are at a disadvantage. To be honest, it just takes away from the game and the experience.

    Injury Update:

Sharks: Couture'***** to the head didn't look so good, his initial reaction looked like he was concuss. I think he will play next game, but will wonder how useful he'll be playing with a minor concussion.

Canucks: Rome looks like he's done for the series from his own initial reaction. Absolutely dirty hit and something that no one wants to see. Lapierre had the same opportunity to hit Boyle late in the game but eventually let up and played to puck. Not your typically hockey play, but the right play as a player's safety was at stake. Ehrhoff is the one that concerns me. It looks like a shoulder injury and he might also be done for the series. Losing Rome doesn't hurt the Canucks as we have Alberts who can replace him. On the other hand, Ballard is the one replacing Ehrhoff and that is where I'm a little concerned. Ballard is more physical and a better defender than Ehrhoff, but his offensive talents are nowhere near that of Ehrhoff. That's two games in a row now that involved a dirty hit. Eager's should have warranted a suspension, McGinn does not deserve a suspension.

Not trying to make any excuses, the Sharks deserved to win this game, but not by much. I'm proud of the Canucks for battling right till the end, down 4-1 halfway through the 3rd, we continued to bring the action to the Sharks and made the score respectable.

Onto game 4 on Sunday @ noon???

    Go Canucks Go.

There's now way that either the Sharks or Canucks are/were gonna sweep, so one loss isn't the end of the world the Nucks fans....just like two losses for the Sharks isn't the end ;)

If you're ever in San Jose when the Sharks are in town, lemme know.

I hear you - We are definitely spoilt round here - 49'ers, Raiders, Giants, A's, Earthquakes, & Warriors are all "easy" for me.

But, I'm also pretty sure the Sharks "claim" a sellout every game - ~18K (about the same as the upcoming Earthquakes park) seems about right..... And I guess I've gotta love the price! :)

    Cheers,
    Ian

The Lightning Bruins game 4 was nuts! Lightning went down 0-3 in the first period, then scored 5 unanswered. Bruins smacked us around in game 3 though.

    Should be a great series.

Wow, 3 back to back power play goals for Canucks in second period.

Lots of opportunities for Sharks but no finish yet.

Very impressive showing by the Canucks...they now have the much sought after 3-1 stranglehold in the series...it will be very tough for the Sharks to come back...possible, but very unlikely.

    :( :(

Gave up way too many penalties - *Three* 5 on 3 goals! One of 'em for too many men! WTF? The Canucks were good, but the Sharks never got going.

Very, very disappointed. I've gotta believe they can come back, but I'm not about to put any $ on it :(

    Go Sharks!

Me too! It was easy to jump on that bandwagon when I moved here in the early '90's - I remember well the Joe -v- Steve controversy.

Their problem now (apart from they suck!) is the park - Candlestick needs to be blown up - It's a complete and utter dump! The NFL is a TV sport to me......

I'd love to get behind the Raiders, but until Crazy Al pops his clogs (which may *never* happen!) they're gonna struggle.

Also a big time Giants fan - Every baseball fan should visit AT&T Park at least once.

The Warriors - Not so much.....

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Hey,

    Lifted from the S.J. Merc this morning, my emphasis added;

    :(

I honestly don't know what they can do..... A change in coach isn't gonna do any good IMHO. And supposedly we've got the players. I do know Mr Jamison is gonna be pissed, big time. Maybe blow the whole thing up and mortgage the franchise for the twins!?

    :(

    Cheers,
    Ian

Thanks for the invite and I'll see if I can arrange something next time I'm down in California. I have a few friends in San Jose that I visit once a year so maybe we can work something out.

A little late on the post game 4 analysis for the Sharks and Canucks, but here we go.

Special teams have been the difference in this series. San Jose's PP looked good through the first 3 games, but sputtered last game. Their PK is still mediocre at best. 5on5 play has improved dramatically as the Sharks kept their foot on the gas until the very end. I don't know how they are going to turn this around other than the fact of staying out of the penalty box. Vancouver's PK looked like they are starting to turn it around. Still have lots of improvements to make but showing signs of going in the right directions. Their PP continues to be a juggernaut. 3 goals in less than 2 minutes of work on 4 shots is pretty impressive by any standards. 5on5 play looked a little out of sync but it wasn't a factor in this game.

    Injury report:

San Jose: Joe Thornton is confirmed to play in game 5. How effective he will be is yet to be determined, but their season is on the line and he will do whatever he can to extend it. The shoulder will bother him but I think he can fight through it.

Vancouver: Nothing major since last game. Rome and Ehrhoff are still a no go for game 5.

Game 5 brings the series back to Rogers Arena in what will be an emotional game. San Jose will bring everything they have and the Canucks will look to survive the early onslaught.

Good luck to both teams and enjoy whats left of the playoffs.

    Go Canucks Go.

TB leading the B's after one period.

I think maybe the Detroit Red Wings wore the Sharks out. No doubt in my mind that McLellan is a fine coach. He was schooled by the best club in the NHL (for the past two decades).

What a kill on that 2-man advantage, that could end up being costly for the Sharks

Ian/alum - no question McLellan is a terrific coach, he has gotten more out of them in a short time than any other coach combined. Heatlry is useless, and at a $7.5 million a year that is highway robbery on his part.

    Well, that was it.

The ****ed up icing call by the refs, really sad, contributed to the Vancouver goal in regulation.

Heatley needs to go. Highest paid player and produced ****.

Once again the bridesmaid, never the bride.

    Go Vancouver, win it all.
