Emilio, I told Luigi to buy 'that' car. Approx 140K 'ask' What did he do ? He purchased an American F.I. 89 Anniversario . I would 'guess,' it is less expensive, for the American buyer, to simply pick-up one of the few 1985 DD QV cars, that is already in the country. With the current exchange rate, I doubt it would make any economic sense, to import a RoW DD QV car from Europe and bring it into the U.S. Perhaps someone will get lucky, and find something in the UAE ? afaik, a red 86 QV DD (John) and black 88 QV DD (Ken), are also registered in the U.S. _________ Anybody remember (years and years ago), the white and red QV DD, that was for sale, in PA ? It was advertised on eBay. I believe it sold, for approximately 65K. It needed some work. I believe it was exported to Japan ?
For the model fans amongst us, here is a nicely-proportioned 1/43rd scale model by Make Up Company Japan EM160B of the famed 1120202, Walter Wolf's car. It appears Miniwerks is the exclusive US dealer for Make Up Company Japan. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
In the pits in 1977 @ Monaco, perhaps the public-address system came in handy to disperse the crowds so Wolf could drive through! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Someone asked if a high-res version of this image of 1120148 in the pits @ Monaco in 1976 exists. It does, but note its copyright JohnM47. http://www.flickr.com/photos/cx500/3974831278/sizes/o/in/photostream/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow, that is a great photo Joe, Walter Wolf obviously had great taste in cars from his Lambo's to his Ferrari's back in the day.
That too, but 1120202 in fact had a PA (public address) system installed so the driver could speak to pedestrians et al through a microphone.
I just came across this very nice Manga about the LP400. Worth reading. http://readmanga24.com/read/countach
white exterior? would need more info like the vin but i recall a white paint red leather that went for 84K in your state at an auction in 2001. if you are talking about this car, if it was sold before that it could have been in PA for less money.
I do not know about a car, that was sold in 2001. The white and red DD QV, was sold a few years later. It was listed on eBay.
Make Up also offers Wolf's 1121002, and a "1978 Countach" with and without wing in several color combos... including Bleu Tahiti over Bianco... if anyone would be interested in such a thing... http://www.makeupcoltd.co.jp/f_products.html
Yes - I looked at that car pretty close. It came up for sale out of Florida right after I had bought mine, and it was a pisser to me because I really wanted a white over red downdraft and there can't be too many of those around. I travelled down to check it out and drive it, and at the end of the day it would have been a lot of money to bring it up to speed and I had just bought my car and you all know the mess it would be to have undone that car deal and do another one right away. I have a slew of photos of that car as it was in Florida. I saw it pop up on eBay and such every once in a while until it went to Japan.....would love to have had the money to have bought that car and kept it until I had the money to restore it.

Now i am uspet too .not because i wanted a white car but because it seems i failed to even see the sale at about the same time I was looking for one too. That was pre-2001? post the picts and info if you can. The other white at that time was in CA but we all know about that one.
Something caught my eye on the Registry. 1121312, 1981, states "June 1981. First Countach to have roof raised 3cm" This is the first car listed in the "Countach LP400S3 Does that sound about right for the higher roof cars?
I've wondered about the move from S2 to S3. Was it a case of the last lowbody and first tallbody being on the line together, or was there a gap? Is the last lowbody accounted for?
Steve, Years ago, I asked about the two Darth Vader' cars. At the time, you did not want to let one go. When you approached me, I already had a full plate. Years ago, I also asked Peter, about his (special) car. I guess a lot of people, have tried to talk to Peter ? I wanted to let go, of the big red boat .
Details, self-explanatory.
