1990 348 TS. 18,500 miles. Sat for about a year and a half or slightly more in my heated garage. Started right up. Occasional slow down light for 5/8 but it used to do that before and went away after several miles like always. Tires were nicely flat spotted but that went away after several miles for the most part. Everything seemed to be just fine.

Dirty and dusty as can be yet. Time to finally start putting in my gutted and internally SS tubed factory OEM Ferrari cats and spider muffler. :)

Have had it maybe 4 years now. I do not think I have put 1000 miles on it since I bought it. But it looks good in my garage. Oh well.

Curious as to the point of this thread.........

    A. You were drunk and decided to post your thought of the day
    B. You were intentionally trying to sabotage the resale value of your neglected 348.

I don't think is is neglected. So it sat for a year and a half in a nice heated garage on carpet. Is that so bad?

Like I'm the only one that ever buys a car like that and rarely drives it. :)
I wanted a 308 bad many years ago. In 1993 they were terribly high priced. I could not afford one. Bought a Mera. www.pontiacmera.com I needed parts for my Mera (to modify it) that nobody made so I made my own custom parts. Went to cars shows and others asked where did you buy that part. I told them I made it myself. They asked if I could make them one. I said sure. This started my business. www.rodneydickman.com Business is terribly good. I work out of my home. What a good life. Since this Ferrari replica started my business and that business has made me well off I felt I deserved to buy a real Ferrari. Wanted a Testarossa but after talking to some owners decided the 348 was for me. So a 348 TS is is. I'm not embarrassed I don't drive it much.

I have thought of selling it and maybe buying an 01 silver Diablo or a pristine 1970 442 4 speed. I would probably not drive those much either so I might as well keep my 348. To me a very good looking exotic.

To me the Testarossa and 348/355 were the last of the good looking Ferrari's. Same with the Diablo. The look is what I want. I have little interest in a newer Ferrari or Lambo.

I have used your headlight rebuild kits in both C5 vettes I have owned. Those things are awesome, my thanks to you for producing them.

Not sure if it is "bad" or not. That is subjective. Bad for the internals of the car? Yes. Your seals have gotten quite dry in 18 months of sitting. Rubber tends to dry out when dry rot when sitting. Parts start to corrode or rust. Batteries go bad (unless on a tender) and are never the same. Your cyclinders were bone dry when you started the car, so the metal on metal you got for the first few rotations wasn't the best.

But to sit for a year and a half (no matter where) and not have more than 1000 miles on it in 4 years is the definition of neglect. You said yourself that it was dirty and dusty. Again, neglect.

Don't get a Lamborghini. We drive our cars and I would hate to picture a Diablo 6.0 sitting for a year. In the end it is your money though. You could buy it and burn it to the ground if you want.

My opinion isn't even worth 1 cent though so take it for what it is worth.

Nice to know I am the only one with a Ferrari that is in that elite class. Hard to imagine that not a single other Ferrari owner has ever left their Ferrari sit for 18 months. :) I've owned a few other collector cars that sat for more than a few years at a time occasionally. Never had any problems.

Ive let my car sit for 5 months last year because I was just too slack to drive it. :D:D

So I can understand leaving your car sit for 18 months while you were busy with work/building a business. :D:D

I hope you start to drive and enjoy it more mate. :):)

I'm going to try and use it a bit more. It has depreciated and my wealth has increased so if it depreciates more I'm not too worried. In the years past I did. Plus I may keep it many years yet. I have not found anything that I have to have to make me want to sell it. If I buy another car the 348 has to go. I can't have 3 collector cars I rarely drive sitting collecting dust. Two is enough plus my motorcycle I also seldom drive. I do covet low mileage cars though. One problem is I am usually having to carry something(s) and hate to put it in my 348. So most of the time I drive my truck. My 2006 S500 4matic Benz only just hit 30,000 miles the other day.

LOL! Can't imagine not driving my 355 for 18 mos. I can't even go for a couple of days without driving it. Such and awesome machine. By time I sell my car I'm sure I'll have the most miles on the odo than anybody on this 348/355 forum.
