Okay this maybe a rant and maybe ill get flamed for it but I AM SICK OF ALL THE BULL$tuff

Work our butts off to make somebody else richer and richer, pay stupid amounts of income tax so people that have 5 kids can work for minimum wage and and get more back n tax returns than i could even dream of! then they say its because you dont have kids!!! okay so why the heck do i get punished for my choice to not have kids...

i get pulled over by an overzealous cop because i didnt have a front plate on my car
120$...really?? what about the 600,000 motorcycles that come to sturgis rally...NONE of them have front plates!LOL

stupid women....well dont even get me started on women...

SOOO i am thinking of selling everything except my toyota yaris, my sleeping bag, tent, fishing rod, my bear gun and heading to alaska for a while....whne it gets cold ill head south... i figure i can sell out and have enough cash to last me maybe 5 years?! no real bills no cell phone calls...just survival!

if i dont like the view i pack up house and move on...

the 348 will be the first tinbg i sell as it is paid for and will give me quick travel cash...

thanks for letting me rant maybe tomorrow i'll feel better! after reading some of your responses im sure i will laugh if nothing else

Hmmm...I say do it. Sorry to hijack the thread, a bit, but the only suggestion I might make: Is there a country, for instance the Philippines, where your money could last 20 years? Spend your day snorkeling?

I like this post. If you do it, I would type up a letter to Obama and send it to USA Today or the NY Times and see if you can get it posted. Basically tell them that you are sick of getting taxed to death while you watch people sit home and do NOTHING and get paid for it. Tell them that you are selling it all and MOVING because you can't take it anymore. But before that, tell them that you are sick of working and are going to get "fired" and start collecting unemployment from the Government.

Seriously, you could make some serious waves.

Focus your anger into something worthwhile like that. Could be a nice rallying cry for the rest of us schleps who continue to work hard so others don't have to.

    Two Words. Costa Rica...
With that kind of money, youll end up on an al queda video somewhere if you go to the phillipines. Go buy an ince cream shop in Roatan or build a nice house near Zancudo in Costa Rica. Enjoy it man.

    I must concur...Costa F'n Rica!

My plans are set and I just have about 11 years to go. "Hopefully" in quotes, things will not change for the worst or an unexpected event will take place. I try to stay realistic.

Very good country, went there this year and was one of the few places that I have been to where I said, Hmmm I could retire here. Great food, people, location, weather and cheap !
Also no standing army, (weird as the are between Panama and Nicaragua) great healthcare and fishing. I also second the rant about taxes. I just let go an employee today that was very well paid and got the patriot keyboard email on how HE should be running the company and I don't know what I am doing. This from a guy that I took from a line cook job (nothing wrong with that, been there), lives at home with his mom and son and gave every opportunity to succeed. Nope, I am the bad guy. In the end the entitlement mentality is a killer and it seems to me to only get worse. Well I for one am NOT selling the 348, I just may buy a 360CS to keep it company

The plan is a great one but keep the 348. The values are so low keep it till it appreciates then sell it in costa rica.

I am not sure if there are accountants among the friends up there, but, here's my part in a helping hand.
Adopt kids towards the end of the year, "will help on taxes." Start a side job. A business of some sort. All legal of course.
Alaska is still part of U.S. If they need to piss you off, I am sure they will manage to. My uncle left CA, scared of earthquakes but came back after 9-11. Alaska won't save you.
What you need is a trip to a massage parlor, nice deep relaxation, put the top down on the Ferrari if it goes down and blast "White wedding" of Billy in the fast lane. All the stress will go away.

Costa Rica has so much going for it. I have a buddy who is from Canada and he now lives in Costa Rica has 3 houses, 2 in the mountains and 1 by the beach. Heavy Tropical Rains in Rainy Season and very hot and humid in Summer. He has a business down there and does very well. Goes to Canada about 2 times a year to visit. HE LOVES IT !!!
Do not think the roads will work for the 348 but you can always get a Lambo Hummer !!
Take a drive and then have a drink make sure whatever you decide is the right move for you

Watch the Albert Brooks movie Lost In America before you go. He and wife sell the house, buy an RV and quit the rat race. Not to give the ending away but oddly enough an encounter with a nice car makes Albert Brooks realize what he really wants in life.
