    I was driving the 355 today - very hot out (95 degrees). The car has the F1 transmission. For the first time the gear number on the dash (current gear you are in) was flashing? I was in 4th gear and the number 4 started to flash over and over again? Was this god telling me I should have bought a manual transmission or does this mean something?

    Flashing gear number (4, in your case) is supposed to indicate clutch slippage. Flashing transmission icon in the idiot lights indicates F1 hydraulic/pump problems.

    How old is your clutch?

    Car has 24k miles and I have every maintenance invoice since it was new. The clutch was replaced by the Auto Gallery in California in 2007 which was about 5k miles ago. How long should a clutch last?

    Also - I should have done a search first. I thought this was an obscure issue but I see this is pretty well documented. Thanks.

    this is what i had
    i changed the clutch, clutch sensor, and got a new f1 pump from a 360 to install using the hill engineering adapter offered from ricambi

    my car is now at the shop
    so when everything is done i will update you

    for the time being though
    check your clutch throwout release bearing as well to make sure it is not leaking, mine was and i changed it also

    Same thing happened to me. It was a leaky throw out bearing causing low pump pressure. Probably the culprit. If it is make sure they change it with a Hill Engineering billet unit. Far superior to Ferrari OEM.
