I believe US law requires manufacturers to keep parts going for 10 years.

Interesting; I never knew that. So you can still get "brand new" 360 parts from the factory?

A few times in this thread there were questions about years, VINs, or any other way to identify new vs. old cats. So I'll try again. Whats the easiest way to determin if my 2008 F430 build date feb. 2008? Is there someway a owner can identify new or old without taking it to the dealer. I have another 10 months before my next dealer visit.

The defective exhaust manifolds have a part number for each side:

    212630 RH EXHAUST MANIFOLD
    212631 LH EXHAUST MANIFOLD

I was told the replacement exhaust manifolds come as a single kit (both sides together) with a single part number:

70001347 (this is the only number on my work order - so I assume this is the part number)

The dealer will know what part number you have on your car for your headers. 1 number is good. 2 numbers, not so good.

the warranty covers this engine failure. just spoke to lake forest sports cars. Another good reason to buy the extended warranty if your car qualifies.

Thank you for posting the pictures and your story.

(As an aside we bought a new 2009 Subaru Outback Turbo with a stick shift. After 45 miles it threw a rod. We had planned on taking the new car the next week to our lake house 1000 miles away. They ended up loaning us another new outback turbo with an auto transmission which we kept for two months. They replaced the old engine with a brand new one in less than 2 weeks. No charge for the loaner or the new engine.

They know I own an Fcar. They did ask me how I was driving the car. I told them the same way as the other Subaru we have with 80k miles on it with NO PROBLEMS. They never asked any questions like that again! LOL)
