    That blows! ******* Bernie!........

The good news however is you're in the pit lane! Enjoy! Just shoot the "atmospherics" from outside looking in etc - That's the way most of see it anyway :)

    Have a great time.

    Cheers,
    Ian

I'm stunned by the last picture of the St. Tropez harbor: When I went there for the 1983 GP at Monaco it looked EXACTLY the same (with older cars of course). They didn't change one thing.

    Anyway enjoy your vacation!

    Bummer!
I would have loved to take one of your shots and get it published in the FOC magazine. They really like up and close shots.

Don't worry about it. They're still as good as I'm able to take with my dedicated camera. :)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

No worries. The quality was still good enough to make me drool all over my keyboard... Looking forward to the Monaco pics. :)

Yep. A shame Ferrarista3 hasn't blessed us with his vantage point this year.

We should start an f-chat Monaco 2012 thread :)

I am not sure if I am going to a race this year, work has been extremely busy and it's hard to find time off. I was thinking to do Monaco '12 instead. I have no idea how early you need to arrange things, so if you guys are really thinking of it, please share any details/discoveries :)

I plan on combining it with driving a F1 in Le Luc in the week leading to the GP

I have planned the trip already but am waiting for the final dates of the driving experience

Anyway would love to meet you guys either in Monaco or Nice where we will stay

It seems like everyone stays in other places and goes for the race... is that because you can't get a room or because it's expensive to stay in Monaco itself?

Hmmm, driving an F1 car... tell me more :D

This being my first visit to the Monaco GP an expert I am not. I am here with 4 friends from Milano so an apartment was the decision. In Monaco a nice apt was 3000 Euros for the weekend. Here in Cannes I rented 2-2BR apts for 450 Euros. With the helicopter today at 1200 Euros for the 5 of us it was still approx 1/2 the cost. And Cannes is beautiful. Sat on Bauli Beach pier where the the sky was blue, temp was 75, service was impeccable, wine was chilled, and the girls are beautiful......'n topless. Life is good.

Heli pickup is in an hour. Can't wait. Top row seats in the harbor as per Ira's advice.

If SPEED is right and the going hotel rate in Monaco itself is around 12K US for the weekend I think I'll be looking at Nice.

In that it would coincide with my thirty fifth wedding anniversary (today is 34) I think I already have a roomie ;)
A shared villa in Nice might be a fun and (somewhat more) affordable way to go.

I'd be interested to learn more about the apartment SCantera said would go for 3,000 for the weekend.

Still cheaper in Nice but there's something to be said about being able to get hammered and then just stagger back to your room. Drunken train rides can be nauseating...

They just interviewd Bernie Ecclestone, is this guy for real? He looks like an Andy Warhol reject. It's amazing that this guy has that much power, seems like a bumbling spectator, someone that greets people in a British Wal-Mart. Help me out here....what am I missing?
