Did you use the " I know, the bracket was loose so I put it in the trunk until I get home to fix it." excuse?

Was it in the alley behind Larry Flint's place on Baltimore St?

I got pulled over on I-95 on Sunday while driving my friend's 996 GT2 for no front plate. My friend also got a $70 ticket. I was doing about 2 mph over the speed limit. I guess the troopers were just trying to make some easy money this weekend.

Sure, the car looks better without a front tag. And maybe the car is more aerodynamically efficient without it. BUT....why give cops such an easy reason to pull you over?

Yeah, that's easy for YOU to say Mr. JoeZaff because you live in a state that has no front license plate requirement!

When I moved to Cali, I never used a front plate for any of my cars for the entire time I lived there (about 5 years) and never got a ticket (moving or parked). I moved back to the DC area and got pulled over within 1 week for no front plate (in MD, just a warning). Over the next few years I got a few tickets from parking in DC without a front plate (really, DC can ticket you when you are not even a DC car?) but I never got pulled over (mostly I drive in Virginia). Anyway, I decided recently to put front plates on all my cars so if other people drive my cars they won't get pulled over for no front plate, but from my limited experience it seems MD troopers are a bit more strict on the plate law than VA troopers. And also it seems like county/city cops don't really enforce it either. But if you park on a public street you are fair game for the meter maids.

In VA if you have an antique vehicle that was not designed to hold a front license plate then you don't need to display it.

I've been pulled over once for no front tag in Arlington - two blocks from my house. Meter maids use it as an excuse to write you a ticket.

Ah, that antique vehicle thing makes sense for my experiences in VA. Too bad the meter maids don't respect that :(

I should clarify that was in my 05 Roush for all of the tickets. Never had a problem with the 308
