So what's in the most DANGEROUS cake recipe... in the world? Poison? No. Narcotics? No. It's just a cake.

Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:

• 4 tablespoons flour
• 4 tablespoons sugar
• 2 tablespoons cocoa
• 1 egg
• 3 tablespoons milk
• 3 tablespoons oil
• 3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
• A small splash of vanilla extract
• 1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe)

Procedure:

1. Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
2. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well..
3. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
4. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
5. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
6. Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
7. EAT ! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).

Sort of... I did allow 60 seconds for mixing and 60 seconds for cooling.

Seriously, try it and time yourself. It takes almost exactly 5 minutes to get from raw ingredients to the first bite.

With more practice, better pit work and a tuned micro I'm sure you can get that down quite a bit.

 

Now that I read this, I have to go to the central station (where the supermarket is opened on Sundays) to get some cocoa to try this cake out. Thanks a lot for ruining the plans for my day


Edit: How big is the mug needed? I don't want to have that stuff rise too much over the top and ruin my microwave.

 

A curious omission for a scientist to make.

 

Just spent 30 minutes in the line at the supermarket - big festival in the town, lots of travellers buying lots of stuff. This recipe better be worth it, or I shall call you Andy henceforth

 

Conclusion: 5 minutes @ 750W is too much. Anyone need a piece of coal? David? Andy?


Edit: There is a distinct smell of burning polecats in my apartment now. This cake IS dangerous.

It is very rubbery.

 

How did it taste?

 

I think it needs more sugar. It was bitter from the cocoa. Very chewy. I only ate one bite.

Actually, just a standard sized coffee mug was used here. I don't think size matters really, as it didn't ooze when it rose above the rim. It just sort of puffed up instead.

I think this might be why they restricted my role in the business to the delivery side only.

As my usual method is to handbrake turn my MINI at 50mph into people's driveways, not only am I incredibly quick to the door but my customers get a reenactment of the Italian Job's stunt driving.

Hmmm... perhaps some tweaking is necessary then. If you experiment with the recipe, let us know what works.

I found mine a little firm, but otherwise very tasty.

Not only full of fat and full of sugar but the microwave destroys any benefits within the cocoa as microwaves are known to destroy vitamins and change the molecules' structure within food and water.

Go berserk.

Can you bake your cake recipe instead? If so how long?

PS you can substitute white sugar to Stevia powder which is a natural sweetener 300 times sweeter than sugar without all the nasty side effects.

I guess you could try to bake it in the oven, but then there are probably better recipes out there for that. The only reason this recipe is worth mentioning is the extreme speed.

No idea on whether Stevia would work in baking or not.

A dangerously quick fudge recipe is one my girlfriend and I did at one point ... You could perhaps combine the cake and the fudge in the center.

2/3 cups butter
2/3 cups peanut butter
6 cups confectioners sugar
1/3 cup milk
1tbsp vanilla extract

Fairly simple you just combine the butter and peanut butter in a microwave safe bowl. Heat in the microwave until melted (approximately a minute), mix it all together by hand and add the other ingredients and mix together nice and well. Microwave again for another minute and then let cool.

I am pretty sure we originally got this recipe from Alton Brown but I could be wrong! It came out pretty tasty for how quickly it was done .
