What a pain in the ass. NOTHING works with 4.0. I had to go to the Mozilla FTP for older versions of Firefox and reinstall all my plugins and manually update them. DO NOT ALLOW FF TO UPDATE TO 4.0!!!!!!
Lemme beg to differ. Chrome is not FULL of spyware. Chrome IS spyware. It was designed from jump to spy on its users... that's its sole purpose in life. Google not only admits this, they brag about it... Yet people keep using it. OK having ended that rant, the OP is right. I'm a big FF fan but Oy! is 4.0 a mess still.
its working for me, just still getting used to the new layout, which reminds me of the chrome layout.
agree, thanks. what did not work: weatherbug, flashgot, downloadhelper, adblocker Pro, Ant Video downloader, and all of my pinned tabs were gone. all of these were gone as soon as 4.0 loaded. None will work yet with 4.0. 3.6 something is where I will stay.
No more so than GMail or any other Google service. Google electronically sifts through your data to direct targeted advertising towards you. Some people are totally happy with the tradeoff. I'm happy with GMail and I'm happy to report no problems with FF4.0. If you're experiencing problems with FF4.0 I'd be more annoyed with the developers of the plugins, etc. that you enjoy than with Mozilla.
No argument from me there. If that was the only thing they did with the data, I wouldn't mind so much. BTW in fairness to FF, many of the problems are with plugins being incompatible, not with FF proper... still for many users, that is a distinction without a difference.
So do tell (post links!).... you sound like you have direct knowledge of this. What else do they do with the data? What all data do you believe they collect? Please post links. Jedi
You should be banned from the internet for using that POS. Weatherbug not working is a GOOD thing. Adblock Plus has been FF 4.0 compatible for a VERY long time. Are you using a different adblocker? Did you do a clean install of FF 4, or did you install straight over 3.6?
the way nasty storms blow up here in the Deep South, weather bug works great for me. i dont take the 911 or the 328 out without taking a peek at the radar on my phone or pc. we have had more hail in the last year, than I have seen here since 1979.
I have had issues with video driver crashing since updating to FF4. Dell Precision 4500 8GB Ram 256GB SSD WIN 7 Pro 64B and other goodies. It is isn't the environment or machine, it was fine until immediately after upgrading. Usually happens when scrolling in firefox. Does not happen when the browser is closed.
No issues after I upgraded. I use chrome but when I don't want usage stats or url history to be tracked, I use another browser.
4.0 was not good for me on Windows XP. The browser was slow, unstable, and frequently locked up before crashing. An update was released to get me to 4.0.1 and that fixed most of the problems. It still occasionally freezes up when loading too many tabs, but hasn't been too bad. I'm hoping a further update addressing those issues is in the works. All the best, Andrew.
FYI I've had two friends in last 48 hour that had both tried 4.0 and given up, email to say they tried it again and it was MUCH better. One guy who cursed it repeatedly is now singing its praises. Looks like they plugged a lot of leaks fast.
