I just blew the engine in my Suburban Friday on the NJ Turnpike. What a mess. I wonder if this would fit? Lamboburban or Suburbarini?
Indeed it is. Been two years since the big smash. We're trying to figure out what to do with the rest of the car, what to keep and what to sell. It's got lots of good parts, probably $20k worth at retail level, especially with the glass, but it's not worth anything close to that.
I remember when it happened. Just a tragedy. I never saw how bad it was. I had hoped he was going to transfer as much as he could to a donor car to get a nice one out of it. I guess his enthusiasm was crushed and I do understand that. He put so much work into the entire car in so many ways and unfortunately a lot of that will necessarily be lost. It's also a shame that we've lost him from the Espada community. Be careful driving yours in the LA area. This 2 now that have been destroyed like this. They crazy out there. Everywhere actually ... He has a very nice digital ignition installation on that car. There's lot's of good stuff some of which might not be appropriate from an originality standpoint on yours but hey, if it works. You could always claim an factory upgrade was performed ... I wouldn't mind having the power steering setup on mine even if it is a very early SII. But I've never compared the two. Anyone else compared manual and power steering cars? Keep us posted.
Not to nitpick, but what happened to the Espada badges? And the Bertone "b"? And the Lambo badge on the back is broken and missing a piece. Who put this car together after the paint job, the Marx Brothers? And who paints a Lambo's cam boxes red?? Otherwise, looks like a decent car. I'm sure they only want 82 bazillion euros for it.
There are couple other cars around that are missing the Espada script and isn't it amazing how much they are needed to break up those otherwise flabby looking rear hindquarters. I really like these cars but from some angles they do look awkward. Especially if one does something like that. Aaron there are much worse examples of violated vehicles out there. Does anyone remember the Russian Espada? I'm pretty sure it's in this thread somewhere. So OK maybe a "Z E P P O" to replace the Espada badges?
When the moon hits your eye Like a big-a pizza pie That's amore When the world seems to shine Like you've had too much wine That's amore The worlds aren't mine(Dino Martini) and the photo isn't mine(Michael Pedersen) but the Espada is mine and that's "Amore" The Bests Lars-Erik Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great words from Dean Martin. He was a friend to a fellow singer, comrade Rat-Pack'er and Lamborghini owner: Frank Sinatra.
He also owned a 365GTC4, both FAS and Sammy owned Ghiblis. Sammy's Ghibli sold at Monterey a year or two ago. It is being offered again at the Greenwich Bonham's sale.
Anybody who has ever pulled the pedal box out of an Espada cannot fail to believe that the cars were constructed from the pedal box out. What. A. Pain. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I bought a new gasket for mine and then looked at the situation. Next I packed the gasket away and had another drink ... Same deal with the that silly steering column boot on the engine side of the firewall. It looks absolutely horrible. I think I may try to make something to fit from the engine side in 2 halves. But how is this news to you? You signed on for a second tour ...
Somebody makes a gasket for the pedal box?? I made my own last time, as I was going to do this time, along with finding a replacement for all the gooey body putty I had to scrape off. Wanna sell it?
This is what I'm tallking about, #36: http://www.eurospares.co.uk/partTable.asp?M=2&Mo=653&A=1&B=37802&S= They show a price so maybe it's still available. I got mine through Lambospares.
Well, I ordered one from Eurospares but I'm not optimistic about receiving it anytime soon. They list it for about $10 but its a "special order." So who knows? I also ordered a set of HT spark plug leads as I don't have a decent set. So it was an expensive morning...
Hi, I have made bronze bushings and also bored the pedals back to round. The bushings should last a long time. I will bring an example of the bushing installed in a pedal to Monterey. Looks very nice. I bet they move with Swiss precision now. GTCP actually sells a bushing kit. If I had a Bridgeport I'd definitely do as you do, but buying machining equipment would be a lot more expensive than buying their kit ($34). I don't think my pedals were out of round, though I did hone them for a bit to clean up the inner surfaces, and I polished the shaft. It all works very cleanly and is a great improvement from when I bought the car and the pedals were swinging around like two jungle vines.
You could have made the plug wires easily enough. The 7mm wire is $50 from Kingsborne and 3 Bosch VW bug kits gets you all the rubber boots, plug connectors and hardware you need. Those are cheap kits too. But it takes a bit to lay it out nicely and cut & crimp everything. Under $100 total though ... But no white booties. My car did come with them anyway.
Trust me, I know all this. I have already earned my scout badge making one plug harness out of MSD wires. Which is why I bought this one, which also includes the separators and wire clips. So much easier.
Definitely easier. I found it somewhat relaxing the day I did it. There were no surprises or painful episodes during assembly and when done it just finished off the engine so nicely. Now contrast that with removing and rejuvenating gas tanks, half shaft service, master cylinder service or you recent foot pedal fun! I've see you descriptions of the work on your previous car. You've certainly been through a lot on these cars. So much on these cars gets physically painful so a day spent on a stool and arranging ignition wires was like desert! Bob S.
This Sunday helded Classic Sportscar Concours Dé Elegance meeting in Finland, Turku. I really didn't believed to see there a red Lamborghini Espada, with automatic transmission! :O Really don't know details where or when that car was imported, but saw it's engine and it was real thing. I had time to edit these two for you to look at. Incredbile car, stunning.! - This is 1974 S3 - How many these automatic-versions have been made? Total was 1217, but how many of these ones? - What about the color? An orginal scheme? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for sharing the pictures. Did you note the chassis number ? I believe this is #9574 which was for sale in Germany last year.
