    Thanks very much Walter, and best wishes with the sale. Naturally I think it is worth every penny asked, and more.

    I believe #061 was displayed at the Galleria Ferrari last year. I would love to have a duplicate made of its front license plate mounting. In return I'd be very happy to share info about trafficators. Does it still have the interior shown in the AutoItalia article ?

    yep, interior is still the same (why shouldn`t it?).
    I will ask about a photo of the mounting on monday as we had a bank-holiday yesterday and I am not in until this late evening.

    Thanks very much re the front plate mounting. I have one small photo, attached, but would welcome more detail.

    Why shouldn't the interior be the same ? Well, it is nicely detailed and comfortable, but differs considerably from the original.

    By the way, in case the rather complicated fuel gauge is not operating, I can provide a modern fully-reversible solution - photos attached. I had four made.

    I'll send to your e-mail a history that I prepared.

    These photos of Clint must be photoshopped. I cannot believe all the american cars in the background were shipped to Italy just for the photo shoot.next to Nettuno which has been placed in a park instead of the Piazza del Nettuno in central Bologna.

    Nope. Go to street view in Google Maps for Malaga Cove Plaza, Palos Verdes, CA. You'll see the replica of La Fontana del Nettuno right there in the center. Been there since 1930. Can't imagine why no one has thought of this place for a Maserati meet.

    the number plate mount looks like a standard Swiss "click on" mount fitted to a simple bracket.

    Many thanks - but unfortunately it seems that no one here in the US (including me) knows this type of mount. I also need the frame for a front plate that is an odd size of 267 x 61 mm, so my intention was to fabricate everything based upon photos. If such things can be purchased, I would very much welcome a referral.

    Forget about to fabricate it, it is Swiss standard production and has nothing to do with the original car. Easy to purchase in Europe.

    I am grateful for your recommendation, but old and new plate frames I obtained from Europe are all the wrong size for a 1949 Italian plate. Also the front mounting is complicated on the A6 1500 by a panel covering the bumper brackets, so I am curious to see the arrangement on #061. Fabrication is no problem, I just want to make it consistent for the period and old photos show no such details.

    Yes, again thank you. I have several frames like this, but they are the wrong size for the 1949 plate which is a little larger.

    The real puzzle is how to support the backing plate, ideally without making any changes to the bumper or the horizontal panel over the brackets (I would not put bolts through the bumper as on #056). At least it seems that that there is no definitive solution from the factory, so I can improvise without criticism.

    But is the bumper new ? It was not on the car at Bonhams last year. Very impressive if that complicated shape was reproduced.
