I was at Fiat of McKinney today and a gentleman who works there told me that he had a 1 owner black/black 348 for sale down in Houston asking somewhere in the 30s. I forgot to grab his information, but if you're seriously interested give the shop a buzz and ask around.

Maybe but $41,500 doesn't match MY idea of "somewhere in the 30s".....LOL!

It sounds like a nice example tho.......

The guy that lives north of the Beer Can House has a nice red/tan spyder, immaculate...next time I see him I'll ask if he wants to sell.....

Yup, but I figured [asking $41.5K = selling in $30's] wasn't a stretch. Especially for a car advertised with no mention of service.

I'll be looking at 308s and 328s too. I like them all, so whichever stirs my soul the most will be the deciding factor. Fitting my 6'2"/250lb frame in the car with a helmet might take one or more of these off the list. Hell, I may not fit in any of them! I've never driven, or even sat, in any of these, so we'll see...

I'm that tall in my early GTBs...although not 250#.

You might drop by Sphere Motorsports on West 11th and see if he'll let you try a few on.

You might have to go with a 12 cylinder!

Actually on the 348, the Challenge seats came sized, so an L unit was available, they pop up from time to time. Nice option.

    Texas!
You're close to me in size. To make things worse, I'm long-waisted, have short arms, and can't stand "lazy boy" style seats, i.e., 308s and 328s.

Plus, if you want to wear a helmet, you're looking at 360s and 550s.

From the looks of the 308/28 seat bolsters, I don't think my tonnage will be an issue. What do you think BigTex? The 348 has deeper bolsters, but from the pics I've seen they seem wider than my Porsche's. Most of what sizes me out of cars is getting my knees safely under the steering wheel to properly work the pedals. Headroom usually isn't an issue until I try to put a helmet on. If I go with a GTS it wouldn't matter, but I'd prefer a GTB.

Thanks for the tip! Anyone in particular I should ask for when I call? Should I name-drop you?

    Too rich for my blood.

Sounds like I may just have to get a GTS and deal with it flopping around.

I don't mind making cuts and bolting the seat to the floor if that is an option with the 308/28/48s.

The seat rail is already pretty tight to the floor pan....

You'll find my name closes doors in the Ferrari Circle all over Houston!

Except for Franco, he likes me......:D :D :D

I once had a full dress HPD officer hop in for a parts run, his bullet holders chaffed the seat a little bit but I was very proud to give him a hand.....

Sounds like we may become fast friends then BigTex.

A number of years ago when I first seriously considered buying a used Ferrari, I joined the FCA and attended a Houston FCA event. You know - to see what the community was like, possibly find a good local car, and heck maybe even make some friends.

You would have thought I had rolled in **** before I showed up. The most unfriendly and exclusive group I've ever met. They were obviously having a good time amongst themselves, but there was no talk about cars, no hanging around or looking at cars, and surely no one willing to chat with me (with two exceptions). I've never had to try so hard to socialize with any one, or any group, in my life. While trying to get one guy to actually talk about his 355 I had the audacity to ask him to show me the interior mods he mentioned. He acted inconvenienced, pointed to a car 20 feet away and said "go take a look."

I don't want to stigmatize the whole club, as there were a couple of nice people there, and I'm sure there are many others. I've met nice Ferrari owners that are enthusiasts before that, and since (all at non-FCA events). I was expecting something like my experiences with the Porsche club - Very inclusive; people who love to talk about cars, ask you about your car, show you their cars, ask you to sit in them, take you for rides; some even beg you to drive their cars.

Anyway, I'm back interested in Ferrari's again, but I'm starting here on F-chat, not with the Houston FCA.

I don't come here to defend the damned and wicked. They know who they are.

But, most of the FCA members don't see each other all that much, so when they do get together, they touch base with old friends while they still can.

That said, I dropped out three years ago when I sold my Ferrari. However, I still keep in touch, every now and then, sometimes, sort of, with some of 'em.

Bottom line? If you want to know ANYTHING about a local Ferrari, get in touch with Grady Owens. End of subject.

Ha ha! Maybe I just happened to show up on damned and wicked day. Hope I didn't hurt any feelings with what I said previously, and I didn't aim to bad-mouth the club. Mainly it was just a really disappointing experience.

I met Grady when I first started poking around years back and thought he was a good guy. I think he had a 512 or something similar, and was one of the Houston club officers I think. Saw an F40 at Keels and Wheels this year, and I could swear it had his name on the placard. What an upgrade!

Grady, and a couple others were some I'd love to meet again. Adam Flynn(SP?), had a 512 too I think? He and his wife were very nice and seemed like down to earth folks. I don't think she had a Ferrari when I met them, but I thought I saw a car with her name on it at K&W a year or two ago. 360 Spyder with a proper gearbox if I remember correctly.

More recently (3-4 years ago), I met Dave Stacy(SP?), GT4, and enjoyed chatting with him as well.

Forgive me if I butchered any names...

I could be wrong, but some of them may be at C&C tomorrow. Who knows? Maybe I'll get inspired.

It really all changed at FCA (IMO) with Hurricane Katrina wiping out New Orleans.

They got the deep water, and we got Franco!!!
