Ok .. I have now read 100 threads on this subject ... And am still no clearer ... Can we clear this up once and for all .... Please only respond if you have solid facts I have 2003 f1 euro spec spider .... Do I need to physically change my TCU to a Cs tcu... Or is this a software upgrade in some way?
Can you please clarify, exactly what are you expecting to gain and why are you wanting to change? AFAIK Ferrari won't ever offer a TCU software upgrade for any non CS car to enable CS TCU spec's. Ofcourse you could just buy a CS TCU.
I think that a 2003 TCU program is very good enough and you wont feel a big difference. Maybe this can help you but I think 2003 is very good. www.formuladynamics.com
Let me chip in a little here. I also have a 2003 Modena and have physically changed the TCU to a STRAD one and YES YES YES YES I do notice the difference, I drive mostly however in SPORT/RACE mode and can definatly say that the changes are quicker and sharper than my original 2003 modena TCU .... I will say that they are not the dramatic difference I have heard others speak of (with older cars 99-02) where the TCU had an even older software revision .... but theres definatly a nice improvement. Hope this helps
Where else, Ebay!!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ferrari-360-F1-Gearbox-Challenge-Stradale-ECU-TCU-/260790550166?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cb853fe96
All the factory documentation says the CS shifts the same minumum speed as the 360, 150 ms. The later software packages are smoother, for sure, but all the data says no change in shift speed. Including the factory hardbound sales brochure I have. Taz Terry Phillips
Taz, Quick Q: Does the F1 trans (in a 360) shift more quicky in sport mode (as opposed to non sport mode)? In other words, does SM send a difft message to the TCU to shift faster? Just curious. Thanks! Jim
.... So it sounds like .... As my Ferrari technician has told me that there is no great benefit in switching the tcu on a later car....

No, you're right, I missed this quite recent add. I exchanged some mails with the owner to clarify which TCU he was selling (it was not that clear at the beginning) but I missed the final status.
