I presume you mean for a 328???


The roadside Hazard warning triangle is a Euro. thing and wasn't supplied on US market cars as a rule..........although like anything with Ferrari's.... I know of US Factory delivered cars were the triangle was in the toolbag!

 

Regarding the "tow hook"....my 87 328 Euro's Owners Manual talks about towing using the screw in "eye" type tow hook....I looked high and low for the location to screw in a tow hook. As it turns out, there is a "loop" welded to the frame near the right-front tire.

 

My '78 tool bag has wrenches and screw drivers made in India. I'm told they are original and the factory actually used several manufacturers for their tools. Can anyone verify this is true?

 

Very true, is the brandname Everest? Those are made in India.
Another brandname used is Polytools Italy.

Having a $500-$1k tool pouch is either for concurs or a talking point when you sell your car. Because you won't use any of the tools to service your car. At least I've had no need to in 12+ years but I did call AAA once. I'll carry my own box on trips before resorting to the uber-valuable factory bag. So why bother?

While some eBay bags might be from parts cars, I think most on eBay are stolen bags aimed at guys who feel the need to replace tool bags which came up missing from their car. Someone got my cigar lighter at a show. Tool bags go awol at car lots and garages where their presence is in question.

 

A reputable "ferrari specialist" who sold me my mondial 3.2 took the tools out of the car between when I test drove it (and noted their presence) and when I picked the car up after paying for it a couple days later.

No doubt those tools appeared on ebay sometime shortly thereafter with glowing descriptions of their wonderful condition....which is quite true other than the fact that they were stolen goods! The dealer probably got an extra $500 for the tools.

Why do this? Obviously, it's for financial gain, however, at some point you're either a stand up guy, or a s-head. If you're the s-head, well, I just feel sorry for you....

 

The tools/toolbag/trouble light, though pretty much useless as far as tools/lights go, are obviously worth a lot either separately or as part of the car.

My 328 had all the original stuff and I removed/stored them though I can't recall where!

I did the same thing that most people probably do - made up a tool bag with what I thought would be the most useful items. Only original tool I keep in the car is the jack - I haven't found an aftermarket one that works though I have to admit I haven't looked all that hard.

If this could help...I have seen someone (here in France) sometime ago having on board his 328 a very light aluminium jack, that, as he demonstrated, made a perfect substitute for the OEM jack of the car...except that it was smaller and much, much lighter.
I was very interested and said to myself that I must take a note of this thing, but didn't (well, that's me...) BUT that I seem to recall that it came from a P-Car, a 924 or a 944. OEM or Aftermarket part, I don't know.

Yes, they are Everest! Guess I am the proud owner of a $1,300 Ferrari tool bag! Unfortunately, the jack bag is gone and I have put in a garden variety Autozone jack to make sure I don't end up stranded!

 

I am happy to say that 54573 has the tool roll, the jack bag and the fuse & light bulb container complete. Even the spare belts. The tools are crap and even though unused the plating has chipped off on several of them. Had to buy the trouble light and related bag.

When buying the car had been advised to have both rolls and the manuals shipped separately to avoid any potential of getting "lost" along the way.
