    First Drive Of The Year

I always enjoy looking at other folk’s DIY project pictures here on this site, so to be fair I thought that it might now be my turn to offer a Show And Tell moment of my own.

This past weekend marked the first drive of the year, after working (at a leisurely pace) on several little projects over the winter.

Aside from routine maintenance, these winter projects included:

    a) Fitting of open “GTB” style modified rear quarter window covers. Aside from the improved appearance thru the elimination of the dated-looking louvers, the increase in visibility from the driver’s seat afforded by removing these louvers is startling.

    b) Refinish the center section of the Gotti wheels to a bronze color. Just in the name of doing something different.

    c) Install a new set of flow matched CIS fuel injectors. Since they are so cheap, I bought twelve (12) new brass injectors, had them all flow checked, and selected a set made up of those eight (8) injectors which had the closest flow rates one to another.

    d) Installation of a set of Goodridge 600-03 larger diameter CIS fuel lines, replacing those fiddly small diameter bent steel lines.

Work yet to be done: Clean the engine of the accumulated dirt and grime.

Additional details for the curious can be found at my website here: http://ferrari308gtsi.multiply.com/photos

    Too funny!

My 16" Etoiles came with gold centers and I made a point to paint them to silver!

Good idea, on matching up injectors!

Very nice Dave, thanks for the pixs. I have a GTS and I did the GTB side louvers too.
I pan on changing out the rubber intake hose also.

Very nice car, Dave. Question from another 1980 owner regarding the injectors.

These cars aren't the one-hoss shay*. That acknowledged, I dislike changing something which doesn't cry 'broken' as did my clutch and steering rack obviously did. Yes I could also change the distributor caps/rotors and ignition wires but they don't cry 'fix me'. I see too many parts changed for the sake of age and suddenly new problems crop up or become apparent.

Although my car runs great but pushing 70k miles must mean my injectors are definately worn and have differing patterns. How did your engine run before and could you really tell a significant difference after changing the injectors?

*Great pre-internet poem by O.W.Holmes in response to complaints of vehicles always breaking down...a story about a wagon built in 1755 of parts so strong that all parts lasted exactly the same length of time before breaking which was 100 years.

Sorry for the delay in responding, but I had my original 1980 OEM injectors flow tested prior to this past winter's work. This page on my website shows the results:

Yes, definitely a BIG improvement in engine performance with the new brass injectors.

    Excellent work!

Would you please tell me the source of the Goodridge fuel lines?
How did you order them for size?

Did you replace the lines that connect directly to the injectors? I cant tell from your pictures. That tubing still looks original. How much did the new tubing cost?

    thanks,
    Aaron

The tubing to the injectors is new (red colored, but the metal lines may not be though)...the remaining black lines are for the WUR and cold start valve.

BTW, can these be replaced with Goodridge lines as well?
